Re: PAC 10....Wild Stuff in the wild, wild west.
Please raise a glass for a great heart that went still today about 3:10pm. Bogart has passed. He had bone cancer and a stomach tumor. Bogie was chocolate lab and a wonderful dog. He made my heart happy just by being what dogs are. He remained a companion and walking friend right up until the end. W...

Donovan, I feel your pain, but as Spence said, I'll still watch the game. It will be interesting to watch how all of this plays out. Greed can make for interesting, if often disgusting, fare. We'll see. Something will happen...what will happen is the question.

Re: The Oil Spill
When I was listening to a BP plan to plug the well with wood chips and golf balls (for real), I knew they had it all wrong. Any southern boy can tell you that it's bubble gum and duct tape that can do the job. Where I grew up it was "bubble gum and bailing wire", and I bailed and bucked e...

Re: Boise State to the Mountain West Conference
Yes, I did invite Brian Roastbeef over because I found this forum more conducive to what we like to talk about, and the fact that topics can be debated in a rational manner. Brian, glad you came, and welcome from another newby to this board. You covered the topic quite well, and in a broader sense t...

Re: Boise State to the Mountain West Conference
Ok, my two cents on Boise and the MWC. I believe it would be good for both groups and here is why. 1st, I do believe that the MWC is on the cusp of becoming a BCS conference. Adding Boise to it's roster definately upgrades the conference. 2nd, this has the same effect for Boise. The MWC is a definit...

Re: Big Ten Expansion
Here is a nice article on expansion from SI.com. I is mostly concerned with the Big10, but covers Pac10 expansion as well, and a little on the SEC. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andy_staples/05/12/expansion-candidates/index.html I thought it laid out the possibilities quite well, as ...

Re: Forty Years Ago Today
The problem isn't IQ it is focus. Therein lies the cruxt of the problem. For better or worse, many Americans are lazy when it comes to involvement in politics. They are more than happy to be spoon fed their politics through ads than do any real research on what is true or not true. If the ad in que...

Re: More Bowl Games? You have to be kidding!
Well, unfortunately, there are only 6 out of 35 bowls where non-AQS schools are even scheduled to meet a BCS team...the Little Ceaser bowl being one of them. And, as you stated, with the criteria (#8 big ten), there is a chance it could go to 5, or lower, unless some non-AQS school makes a BCS bowl....

Re: ESPN Classic replays
Not trying to be a party pooper or anything, but since that '77 Orange bowl, the hogs are 5-15-1 in bowls. There just aren't alot of wins to show. 1980 Hall of Fame bowl against Tulane. 1982 Bluebonnet bowl against Florida. 1985 Holiday bowl against Arizona St. 1999 Cotton bowl against Texas. 2003 I...

Re: Worst FCS/FBS Games of 2010
I'm on Spence's side on this one. Although I have heard before the argument that donovan puts forth, and some of it makes a certain sort of fiscal sense for the FCS schools, I think it detracts overall from the FBS school that scheduled the game. Trash the ranking system if you like, and in that I w...

Re: More Bowl Games? You have to be kidding!
That is not my understanding of how the Pac 10....we can count on the West Coast, Spence, works. It is different than other conferences and is a constant source of discussion. I found one article on it, how they do it. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/2009256167_uwmoney24.html I stand c...

Yes, it does. Bowl money, TV money, and Travel game money is all shared. I think the only ticket revenue is not shared...I could be wrong.
