Re: Most Difficult Schedule

Not saying that it's the most viable means of comparison, but if you take the wins from 2011 of each teams' opponents (FCS teams omitted), these would be the 4 toughest schedules:
Kansas 97
Notre Dame 97
Iowa State 93
Nebraska 92

Ole Miss and TCU are tied for 5th with 89 .

Re: WV v Marshall

"Doc" lost this one for his boys. It drives me nuts when coaches switch from a game plan that worked for 3-1/2 quarters. Officials missed a crucial holding call in the endzone on WVU's last drive that would have given the Herd a safety and the ball on the kickoff. Is it just me, or is offi...

Re: BOISE STATE VS VIRGINIA TECH PART 2...

Not sure I comprehend someone saying the Vegas line predicted incorrectly. They set a line for wagering, nothing else. So very true. I was simply pointing out that the Vegas spread was on the wrong side of the outright winner in this particular matchup 66% of the time over the past 9 years, and 0-f...

Re: BOISE STATE VS VIRGINIA TECH PART 2...

I sure hope Congrove picks Miami to beat FSU this year...the last two years his pick lost. The computer was correct in 2008. - Vegas line was Miami (-2.5), Computer had Florida State by 6.88. FSU won 41-39. Vegas line has been wrong outright for at least three years in-a-row. After original post, I...

Re: CFP Users Poll on Wikipedia

The beautiful thing about Wikipedia...is that I could edit that table, use 3 initials, and have my own ranking system...and might even show up on ESPN. 8) Wikipedia isn't a credible enough source for ESPN, but it is nice that someone other than us believes that the CFP Users Poll merits the publici...

Re: Lee Corso...did he just say what I think he said...

'We shot our wad last night on dinner and a movie' - simply means you spent all the weekend entertainment money you had.

I've heard it, and used it, many times in a variety of contexts and never in the one that seems to be alluded to.

Re: What Would've Happened In 1996?

For whatever it's worth to the subject, CCR had FSU #1 and ASU #2 at the end of the regular season. As they were the only remaining undefeated teams, I would expect both major polls would have them ranked the same way. The computers, therefore, would likely not be able to change the matchup but, sin...

Re: Where You Disagree With Congrove...

Anyway...I thank Mr. Congrove for taking the time to tell us what how he thinks on the subject...............who are your favorite teams? Sorry - if I divulged that, people would accuse me of slanting things in their favor, or publicly lash at me for not propping them up more. I will say this - I h...

Re: Where You Disagree With Congrove...

...what I was trying to point out was that the score differences that are predicted aren't that accurate. Let's say Kent State played Richmond. That should be a close game, but the CCR will predict that the Golden Flashes will win by about 20..... That is your opinion. Perhaps it would prove to be ...

Re: Where You Disagree With Congrove...

Eric...Richmond hit me as well...although they were the 2008 FCS National Champions...I habve always maintained that one man's ceiling may be another man's floor. And I'd take money on ECU, Virginia, Kentucky, NC State. Notre Dame (all ranked below Richmond) if paired with the Spiders. Agreed. And ...

Re: Where You Disagree With Congrove...

And, I've said this before, but if FCS teams were accounted for as individuals, they might be closer on the spread. I don't think lines are set for those game, but the score difference may be a little more accurate. Richmond is not North Carolina A&T, but they all get lumped in the same group. ...

Re: Where You Disagree With Congrove...

I don't get how Steele does his power poll combination. Like Billybud said, it should be based on how good the teams are. Not historical performances, not schedules, not anything but that. It isn't a matter of choice that makes the methodology correct. It's a matter of requirement. By process of el...
