Actually, nd only takes $2 million for a BCS bid.
This was a new rule agreed upon by the BCS committee prior to the Bowl games last year.
Though, it did not take effect, until this season.
So nd got into a BCS Bowl, the last possible year they could receive a $16 million paycheck.
hmmm...

Re:
Couple of things here; 1.) ND only makes $2 million for appearing in a BCS bowl. 2.) Conference championships do not always showcase the best two teams from that conference each season. Notre Dame has 3 or 4 alumnists on the BCS committee. ND is never going to be forced into anything. Take the Big 1...

Re:
It looks as though some of my previous influence has indeed rubbed off on others. The problem with preseason polls, is that they tend to give the common viewer a false expectation as to what is coming. Assume this. Where would Rutgers have fit into the scematic of things, had there been no preseason...

Re:
Well, Billybud essentialy got that point out of my way. Temple started last year 0-0. Texas started last year 0-0. Temple finished last year 0-11. Texas finished last year 13-0. All teams start with a 0-0 record. Their final record is how a team's season is measured. I will add one thing, though. Pi...

Re:
Nice try... If the heisman trophy should be awarded based on a player's "career", then the College Football Hall of Fame should only recognize those players who won awards, over the course of their college football careers. And teams who won championships. Instead, the College Football Hall of Fame ...

Re:
I think you are just arguing because you are afraid to admitt when you are wrong... such as now. If a heisman andidate is voted in, because of his total career success, then Adrian Peterson had no bisness being in the final 5, because he still had at least 2 more years of playing time to finish out h...

"I never said Bady Quinn deserved the Heisman"... Stop! Right there is a pure example of what I am refering to, as misquotaton. You interpret words into a comment that are not there. I never wrote that you thought Brady Quinn should win the Heisman. I simply refered to your words, about Brady Quinn ...

Razor Hawk, Until you can separate posts, and reply with your own arguments (as enfeebled as they may be), I will not respond to you. It's difficult enough, just having one person misinterpret what I post. But to have a second person doing it, and leaving in the mixed debate with the other person: 1...

Re:
"The AP didn't think Auburn was wronged, at least before the championshp game." True, but the AP did make an issue of it, after the Sugar Bowl game. And, it is not until after the championship is played, that a co-champion can be crowned. The AP can recognize anyone for a championship. If they wante...

Billybud... You sure got lucky, man. Only about 50% of nd fans in South Bend are civil. The other 50% are the ones who are looking for a reaon to slag you down (verbally speaking of course). When I went to the stadium for College game (during last year's usc game), I was able to get along with sever...

Re:
notre dame's schedule was also considered the #1 toughest schedule going into last season. ND jumped very quickly in the polls, and the media was quick to point out that ND had a "Difficult" shedule. However, After the season was over, ND had played exactly 3 teams who ended with winning records. Mi...

Though, you are unquestionably right about one thing: If it's not broken, why try to fix it. . Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the current system we have, is without flaw. But, what Spence touched on, is something I think most overlook. Spene, you say College Football is the most popular collegia...

Well, Spence, you're half right.
Posted on the NCAA website, they state, that:
The NCAA does not sanction, or regulate the selection process for a Division I - A football National Champion.
.
However, they do officially recognize the BCS selected champion, for record keeping reasons.

I agree. No Div A team should be able to play a Div AA team. However, the media had no problem putting Auburn ahead of Miami & Texas in the polls, before the `Canes or the `Horns had lost a game. They were all undefeated when the AP poll jumped Auburn from #18, to #12, to #7, to #5, then to #3. ...

Re:
Marshall squeaked out an over-time game, just barely allowing them to finish 4-7, and not 3-8. That is bad. If their team was good, they would have played better. SMU lost to that Mashall team (even if it was in over-time) and finished with a 5-6 record. That is a losing record. And does not suggest...
