Still not up to ten...
Hopefully more of the old guard trickles in and gets us to the magic number. I'll certainly go in again.

Re: Spence, Can't you throttle this guy?
Setting aside briefly the nature of Gee's foot-in-mouth disease here, I just have to appreciate that this article is from Detroit News. That fact gives me a warm feeling inside, like it's the end of November and some stuff will always remain reliably true. Never let a rivalry go to waste, even in th...

Re: Stan Musial passes
I'm m Minneapolis near the Mall of America. I walked past a sports store in the mall and saw a signed picture of Stan, and it was President Obama giving him some medal. i'll take a picture of it and post it here. I hear those sell for $15. $400 if they have to Photoshop out Obama. It's worth the ex...

God Made a Farmer
For those few of here who don't bother with that other football league and didn't watch the Super Bowl, this is the one commercial worth a look for this year. For the rest of us who did see this tonight... you know you want to see it again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sillEgUHGC4 Paul Harvey was ...

Re: Stan Musial passes
Stan the Man was my favorite old time player. I still have a plaque for him hanging in my bedroom that I bought in Cooperstown maybe 10-12 years ago. Had a vintage style jersey of his too that I wore regularly back around my college days. He was a great man, not just as a consistently amazing player...

Re: Bowl Projections! Pt. 2 (Updated 12/2)
Looks like the NIU/FSU bowl is opening at -13. We'll see how hard it shifts. If after nearly four weeks it's still under two touchdowns, then the bettors know something about FSU that could make it an interesting game. Meanwhile it's the other half of that great MAC championship game that could prov...

Re: Bowl Projections! Pt. 2 (Updated 12/2)
Yep. Hearing on Twitter that 'Cuse is officially headed to the Pinstripe Bowl. They like us in NYC, we travel well there, and to snub a Big East co-champ for 6-6 (2-4) team would have been too much.

Re: Back To The Womb
Well said, Billybud, and to expand on that a little - when put in that light it is very visible how much the Big 12's recent losses were a real kick in the gut. For a conference situated in flyover country losing St. Louis and Boulder/Denver is brutal. Even the seemingly minor Omaha market going is ...

Re: Back To The Womb
Clemson really has built themselves a respectable basketball program lately. It's a fair question of course of whether Brownell can maintain that trajectory, and they're still football centered even so, but there's a fair case to say they'd be among the more balanced schools in what's becoming this ...

Re: Rutgers and Maryland possibly to Big Ten? Oh my, oh no!
Indeed, that's a far cry from what that individual described of Nebraska before the shift, which was a "football team with a university attached." I'm not a fan of the fluid conferences either, and I still stand by what I said in the other thread about how all this undermines the appeal of...

Re: Rutgers and Maryland possibly to Big Ten? Oh my, oh no!
It's hard to predict though, isn't it? I could probably dig back a little bit to find posts from many of us, myself included assuming the Big 12 was all but gone. Now, who knows. Florida St. could go there if the SEC can't fit them in around internal politics. Does a Big 12 back to 12 or more by 201...

Re: Back To The Womb
Well when Boise St. started making a deal to join the Big East, they were looking at the conference of Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, UConn, Cincinnati, and Louisville, and even Notre Dame hoops. If they want what they signed up for now, they'd better start talking hard with the ACC. Right now they'...

Re: Rutgers and Maryland possibly to Big Ten? Oh my, oh no!
I think Florida State is history in the ACC as soon as the right situation comes along. I don't think it will be long. I think the B-12 is going to make the next expansion move. Followed by the SEC and PAC. I think that we will see 16 team conferences in the next five years. It may very well be the...

Re: Uh-Oh
Yeah the lucky season ticket holders for the Florida-Florida State game have found themselves in for a far bigger game than they could expected even from that great rivalry... I can at least hope that if FSU comes out ahead there, that the all-SEC crap will be avoided, with Florida State leapfroggin...
