Ark vs ULL

Postby Dossenator » Sat Aug 31, 2013 10:43 pm

Arkansas won in dominate fashion today. I think people have written this Razorback team off before the season even started. Kirk Herbstreit picked them to lose today for example. This is basically the same team that started last season ranked #5 in the nation...except they have a real coaching staff, and more depth. The strength of this team is the online and dline. I think they will shock a couple of teams.

The one drawback is the schedule ranked 2nd toughest in country by one publication. Ark starting in week 4: at Rutgers, home Texas A&M, at Florida, home South Carolina, at Alabama, etc....and end season at LSU. That 5 game stretch is brutal starting week 4.

I liked Arkansas balance today: over 500 yards and split evenly between pass vs rush. Two running backs over 100 yards (Johnathan Williams and Alex Collins) and QB Brandon Allen with 300 yards passing and 3 TD's.

Great start to the season against a decent opponent. Go Hogs!

On a side note, I almost melted at the game today. It was around 100 degrees with high humidity. Stupid 3pm kickoff. I am ready for fall/football weather.

I hope the new coach works out. Unfortunately, their is an uphill battle, as the only team in the West who isn't good is Miss. State.

Ole Miss is gonna take third in the division, I think, by beating LSU.

Good luck!
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I think Bielema is an enigma. His success at Wisconsin was undeniable, but you always had a nagging feeling that he actually wasn't a good head coach and that he was defying the odds. I think Arkansas will have a solid team this year, but as you alluded to, I their schedule may keep them outside of the postseason. They should start 4-0 if Rutgers doesn't fix their defense. Then they host Auburn and Mississippi State. Six very winnable games with the potential to upset one of the top dogs.
