Zona -v- Oregon

Postby WoVeU » Fri Oct 03, 2014 8:06 am

I am not quite sure how Zona made it into this game unranked?!?!? I will be interested to see how the pollsters reward the Wildcats.

The only thing that will keep tha PAC-12 from turning into a churn is if UCLA, in fact, is the team that showed up last week. We won't know that until Duck Season comes to the desert in a week.

I think Arizona is for real. This did not seem to be a case where Oregon played poorly, Arizona just seemed good. Much faster than I had assumed.

Now if only the Beavers could win a game of importance.

Last night, during the 4th quarter -- the score being tied, 24-24 ... Arizona had the ball.

I thought to myself, if Oregon holds them, and wins this game in OT --- how do you evaluate these teams?

Arizona not being ranked in the top 25, fighting it out On-the-Road against Oregon, the media darling #2 ranked team.

Clearly, you cannot put an unranked team into the top 25 after losing the game --- so, does that mean you drop Oregon's rank from #2?

Or, do you swallow your pride and include `Zona in the rankings, after having lost the game?

The Wildcats bailed out the voters by winning

There goes my poll....I had them at #1 and they do this???? :(

Maybe it's just me, but there is NO clear front runner this year. No one appears to be running over everyone in their path.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

:D Great point Cane!

Derek, you drank the Kool-Aide?!?!? They serve it up every year for Oregon...you can never tell how good they will be because of the hype..it goes with the 86 uniforms.

I am not an Oregon fan. As a matter of fact I wish they would join the SEC so I could ignore all the team of which I am not at fan as a package deal. With that said, I am glad that there is some West Coast hype.

When newspapers were in existence, the West Coast never reported on the SEC, or many East Coast teams. Now, as national news is about all that is left it makes us all want to drink the Kool Aid!

Arizona looked like me to be a very good ball club. Oregon looked like they have all year, they will be close in the PAC 12, but no cigar. But if there was a cigar, it would have a swoosh on it.

Incredible right now. 75, sunny and cool breeze. This is a good as fall football weather gets. Now if we only had some collegiate teams. Linfield, Division NCAA Division III is doing well. 2-0 but does not play a home game until next week. They have the longest winning season streak of any NCAA footbal team...something like 59 years.

Great time to visit...but can not promise weather more than one half day at a time.

Yesterday was great in the WNC mountains...cool this morning (35) but supposedly warming up to mid 60's in afternoon.

I am now a confirmed TV football guy. I can watch so many more games than when I attended in person.

I think Rich Rod is a good coach and will make Arizona very competitive....and that the only reason that they were unranked is that preseason polls started them there.

I have a difficult time deciding just how good teams are this year. I thought TAMU looked great, until this game...I was not surprised by Bama but the Oklahoma game caught me flatfooted...I did not see that coming.

As far as FSU goes, they look bad and somehow pull out wins...but I guess winning ugly beats losing. At the end of the year it is "W's" and "L's".

I will say this about Winston, he has not lost a game that he has played in and he seems to will the team to win. The win streak at FSU is now 21 in a row....I do not see it going through the year, however. Winston can only will so many wins...at some point, playing ugly will bite back.

I did watch the game. (I am not on the TV bandwagon "yet." I have noticed the times I am at the coast looking at the ocean and watching games is not all that bad. Went to a high school game on Friday and it was fun, but bad game and was not really interested.) Anyway...I think it is hard for teams to execute well when they play a teams that is not at the same level. I think Fisher will get the discipline back that is required. The way the season is going, FSU, though deserving, may make it by default.

There are now so many games on TV that I get motion sickness flashing across the broadcast spectrum. I have a kegarator and a cushy couch...the best seat in the house...is at the house. The parking is amazing...just like the dress code.
