I just rewatched the game and I would not say Mallett had a bad game. In fact the false starts put the Hogs in terrible situations and I am amazed that Mallett was able to overcome some of those mistakes. He completed 71% of his passes for 310 yards and 3 TD's....I will take that every game.

I do understand what you are saying though. Mallett had a terrible pick that allowed A&M to even be in the game, he almost thre a second int, and he missed a wide open Jarius Wright for an 80 yard TD...not to mention the personal foul that stopped a late drive (by the way Mallett did not throw a punch like the announcer was saying...the Aggie would not get off and he was swiping his arm back and forth to get him off...not a punch...after watching I am not sure it should have been a penalty).

Hogs DB's hot beat a couple of times. However, I watched a lot of football yesterday and every team I saw gave up big pass plays. It's going to happen....we just have to minimize how many times it happens. I have watched the play that Winston was flagged at the end of the first half that set up the Aggie TD. Winston did not interfere...in fact the flag should have been thrown on the Aggie WR. Aggie WR grabbed Winstons left arm and had it locked down and with his other hand had ahold of Winstons jersey.

The penalties killed the Hogs. You don't commit all the false starts and Srk wins by at least 28 points. Hogs were constantly in 2nd and long and 3rd and long situations.

Mallett may not have had a bad game, but definitely not Heisman-Like. He also made a number of bad throws. I think his left shoulder is an issue. I think he may have hurt it late in the Louisiana-Monroe game.

I think in the Petrino system, we will normally have a quarterback with some awesome stats. I also think a more mobile QB will even be a better fit for this offense.

It was refreshing when I heard that Petrino said that his call of the fake field goal was a bad call. He took the blame for that call. The previous coach, and his name escapes me, would have blamed either an assistant coach or the players for poor execution.

Should be an interesting game, next week on the plains.

The longer Nutt is gone the more thankful I am he is not our coach. I was a Houston supporter for years...a lot of it had to do with how the fans went about pushing him out. Seeing what he is doing at Ole Miss has really opened my eyes. It only took him a couple of years to bring down that program....and when he opens his mouth it's the same old stuff over and over. And it was refreshing to hear Petrino after the game say that he made a mistake and it was a bad call. You will never hear Nutt say he made a bad call or that a loss was his fault.

The game this next week will be interesting. If the Hogs can keep the penalties down then they have a shot. I watched Auburn vs Kentucky....Kentucky could have easily won that game. Auburn needed a field goal with seconds left to win. I think both offenses will score points. I also think turnovers will be key....that's a big reason why Ark whipped Auburn by 21 last year.

You know an interesting stat from the Ark vs A&M game....Ark had 10 penalties in the first half and scored 21 points....Ark had 3 penalties in the second half and scored 3 points. That is strange. Hogs have to figure out how to score in the second half. That is the second straight game that they have only scored 3 points. They will have to improve that to beat Auburn next Sat.

Petrino has figured it out and he is working on it, run-pass mix, and down and distance how-to's. By the 2nd half the D's are in Mallett mode, he can't let that continue. And he knows he can use their Mallett Watch to run the ball well, he just has to find the right recipe.
