Actually, my comment was a shot at Lou Holtz and his ND bias.WoVeU wrote:1) Loser of the week....they don't come any bigger than WVU!
Razor has ND as the best 3-Loss team, I won't contend that. But I will cheer them on in hopes of them being the best 4, 5, and 6 loss team! Go Irish!

And he will still have it at 4, 5, and 6 losses. At least Lou admits he is biased, he has it for ND, USF, and a little for WVU.

As was so succinctly brought to my attention recently, the best 0-7 team is still 0-7.
I can't remember a year where injuries were so prominent for Va Tech either. Roberts broke his arm and is out for the year(Starting WR), Bruce Taylor(Starting MLB(**BEAST**)) is out for the season with a Lisfranc sprain that requires surgery, Jeron Gouveia-Winslow (Starting Whip) also out with Lisfranc sprain, Antoine "Hop" Hopkins(Starting DT) is out for the season with torn ACL, Kwamaine Battle(2nd String DT)(Knee), Jeron Hosley (All-American Corner) has been out with a Hamstring, James Gayle(Starting TE) is out with an ankle sprain which he re-aggravated on the first series last week, Alonzo Tweedy (2nd String Whip) sprained his ankle last weekend and is questionable for this weekend. Bruce Taylor is a heavy blow but has good back ups. Hosley we can not afford to lose as you just can't replace that kind of talent.

Re: Winners and Losers Week 8
Injuries seem to steadily get worse. I do think this year could be one of those up year spikes on top of a generally rising trend.
The game is more wide open than ever and hits come form all over the field (many angles) and many more collisions are happening at full speed. Players are a few pounds lighter than 5 years ago but the speed is up. Energy is proportional to mass x velocity^2. The gain in speed is outpacing the reduced mass.
Then in some of these line and back field tackles you get guys being hit from 2 and 3 directions. Much less speed is involved but getting folded over other people is where you get joints going in directions they weren't designed for.
Until the spread fades from existence I look for a continued increase in injuries.

Arkansas has had major issues with injuries this year. At one point they were playing minus 6 defensive starters....including both starting all-sec defensive ends. The Hogs have 5 running backs and they have all missed games: Knile Davis out for season, Broderick Green just came back from a major surgery, Dennis Johnson came back from a life threatening injury and then sustained an injury and is just now full strength, Ronnie Wingo has missed the last two games due to injury, and Kodi Walker just had season ending surgery after missing the past few games. WR Jarius Wright has missed a game due to injury and WR Greg Childs came back this season from a major injury (he does not seem to be the same WR he has been in the past). I don't ever recall this many injuries so close together.
"A team with something to play for is dangerous, but a team with someone to play for is unstoppable..." Arkansas OL Brey Cook quote following the death of teammate Garrett Uekman (Nov. 2011).
