Opening Night: How Well is Who Doing . . ?

Postby Cane from the Bend » Thu Aug 29, 2013 7:45 pm

North Carolina is struggling, especially on Offense. The Defense took a little while to get into this game, but, cannot win it for the team. The Tarheel O has to do a better job at navigating the field.

South Carolina is slowing down. The offense started out explosive, but are waning. Their defense has NC on the ropes, but, is starting to show a lot of fatigue.

The second half should be interesting. North Carolina will get the ball to start the third quarter. If they don't score on the opening drive, then this game could be over.

If you asked me after the first three drives if South Carolina would go on to win the national championship, I'd be inclined to say they would  . They looked about as good as you could imagine, but they really have hit the skids. It's funny to be reminded how much college football is a game of ebbs and flows. USC-East's defense was flying around like crazy on the first couple drives, but you can only sustain that energy for a short amount of time. UNC is moving the football a little bit, but it won't be enough to make this game much closer.

I figured they would try to neutralize South Carolina's defensive line by doing a lot of sweeps and screens and that's what they've done. The linebackers and secondary though have been in the right spots consistently so they aren't making enough plays.

Kent State is having problems --- Liberty is giving them a game --- it is currently 7-3 in the 3rd Quarter, and they just muffed a punt . . . but got it back.

Not a good start for the Flashes.

I don't think a lot of people expected too much from Kent State this year. I think they lost some defense and their QB situation went from bad to worse with Keith graduating (Keith being bad, his backup being worse). It's basically the Durham-Archer show. I didn't have KSU bowl eligible this season.

Wake Forest is leading, 17-7 --- not that dominant fashion you'd like when playing Presbyterian.
Presbyterian just tried to go deep, but threw an interception.

3 minutes to go in the half. Well, maybe the Deacons will blow it up in the second.
Last year, it was 35-7 at the half.

Wake just picked up a first down on 4th and 3.

50 seconds left.

Now they just got a huge run . . . it's first and goal at the 5.

Wake took a sack with no time outs left.

They hurried to the line . . . and fumbled.
Presbyterian ball . . . knee . . . halftime.

Bowling Green is look good against Tulsa early.
3-0 in the 2cnd quarter.

That high octave offense isn't looking good . . . their timing seems to be off in this first game.

1:45 left in the first half of the Minnesota/UNLV game.

UNLV up 13-10, but just punted.

Minnesota will start the drive from UNLV's 39 after a decent return.
