It appears that Mrs. Saban was house hunting....

Any Texas fans that can comment on this??? I can't imagine why he would do it. Maybe he likes rebuilding. who knows...

Ego is the only possible reason. He makes more money now than he could ever have any use for.

I would just say, "Ever been to Tuscaloosa?" How about Pullman, Washington? There are a lot of reasons to have a home other that some of these college towns.

I just got back from Birmingham, which is about 60 miles from Tuscaloosa. It is a very nice area. The economy their is very upper middle class. The guy I had my meeting with lives down the street from Charles Barkley. It isn't a backwater sort of area. Alabama probably has those areas, but this wasn't one of them.

I cannot imagine Saban going to Texas, but this is just the sort of thing that in the end means more than words from the horse's mouth. I was visiting Austin around the time Mack Brown was hired and that event seemed to be introduced into every conversation, somehow. I suppose Longhorn fans really focus on their head coach. Although I'll never know, it sure would be interesting to learn what UT & boosters offered Saban, no matter how it turns out.

I don't see Sabin leaving. Not that he hasn't done it before, but he has the keys to the city in Tuscaloosa. He has total support of the school. It is just hard to believe he would jump ship on them. Texas has more resourses, but I'm not sure they are willing to commit more resources than Alabama to get him. I think he is just nosing around for a raise.

Many Texas fans believe they have this guy in the bag . . . yet, there is another potential side to this story, which might irk Longhorn followers.

It is said, that Saban is too meticulous & controlled to have anything done by accident, or without motive.

Someone had mentioned, that shortly after Saban was hired for the head coaching job @ Bama, he & his wife went house shopping for a vacation home in Georgia . . . shortly after that, Saban started recruiting the state of Georgia.

Now that the Texas outlet has open up to the SEC, with A&M's presence becoming a relevant division contender; the recruiting grounds in the Lone Star state have been sown as fertile pastures.

If Texas is struggling on the field, now is the best time to make your presence felt, before Kevin Sumlin saps up the cream, and leaves a curdled crop.

@Cane ftb. That's a pretty compelling argument. Crafty.

It is completely humiliating that Texas fans actually wear Saban shirts to the Texas games. I don't like him, or anything about him. He will leave Bama as soon as the sanctions start being handed down. That might be in a year, or ten years, but with all that NFL talent, it WILL happen.

Mack Brown is a great coach that is a role model for the players and fans. He listened to the pundits and boosters and went and hired some "hot shot young" coordinators, and they both failed. He finally has his guys doing things his way and they are winning games.

Amazing what happens when the defense decides to start tackling!

Unlike LSU fans, I remember my team being mediocre in the 80s and 90s. Yes, Texas has all the talent every year...but they did not have that talent pre-Mack.

What sanctions are likely for Saban/Bama? I do not keep up on this kind of thing, so don't know/haven't heard anything about it. Anyway, assuming it's true, sanctions can follow a coach as I believed happened with Tressel at OhioSt, so that might not suggest Saban will go to UTexas or another school.

Tressel got an email from a former player that told him that five players sold memorabilia and autographs for tatoos. Tressel deleted it and tried to act like he never saw it. He got fired for it.

Sounds like he is looking for a "special raise " from Alabama for accepting the speical pressure. He is not going anywhere. Sabin is 67. I don't see him wanting to rebuild Texas, though he could if he wanted.
