South Carolina @ Missouri

First off, this was a very thrilling game and fun to watch for nonpartisans. That said, was anyone else surprised (or let down) by the overwhelming sloppiness of the offenses (on both sides)? Granted, both teams played back-up QB's for most of the game, and both teams are better known for their defense, but even knowing that going in, I did not expect what turned out to be such embarrassing offensive play (with the exception of SC after Shaw returned). Between the turnovers, silly penalties, and most especially the bewildered passing offenses, I'm surprised any touchdowns were scored at all. And it wasn't just poorly thrown balls, but also several dropped balls by good receivers. At times, I felt like I was watching a very talented high school game.

This is only the second game for each team I've seen this year, but if these are the two best teams in the East, I shudder to think what will happen to either one in the CCG against bama. Can anyone offer some hope here?

I'm not sure I can. I think South Carolina might actually be in the driver's seat even being a game behind since I think Johnny Football and A&M should have a decided edge against Missouri. Granted their defense is pretty bad, but if Mauk struggles, A&M could beat them easily. Missouri can get some pressure, but Manziel just about completely neutralizes that aspect of their game. Ole Miss in Oxford could be a really big challenge as well.

I think whichever team makes it out of the East will lose to Alabama pretty easily. South Carolina has the best odds of putting up a fight with a healthy Connor Shaw. USCEast can play enough defense to keep it within reach. Missouri is a bit of a paper tiger (pardon the pun 8) ). A good team no doubt, but they lucked out with Florida and Georgia limping into their matchups. South Carolina limped in for a half but pulled away when their starter pulled off a gutsy performance.

Hard to see Alabama taking a loss here on out....
