It was only by a yard or 2, but it should have been flagged.

Auburn got lucky in two games that they should have lost.

I'm glad Bama finally got beat though.

I kept wonder which team would break first. It was the Team of Destiny versus the voodoo practitioner Nick Saban who always seems to get his way. I might have to stop using that term now that Saban got knocked off from his high horse

I couldn't be more happy that Alabama got knocked off. At least we'll get something different in this year's championship game. Now the only question is whether or not Auburn leapfrogs undefeated Ohio State. An emotional, crazy win on national television like that will certainly drum up a lot of excitement and it plays right into the SEC Bias center of these pollster's brains....Wouldn't surprise me to see Auburn make huge gains on Ohio State, making their championship game against South Carolina or Missouri enough to push them over the top.

Still, I have to say that that is the absolute greatest finish in college football history. There are certainly other contenders, but this shoots right up there in the pantheon of greatest games ever. No question.

I have to say that this years' Auburn is the luckiest college football team that I have EVER seen. Clearly they are God's team.

No question. If Auburn doesn't complete that hail mary, then this is just an interesting game and a potential test for Alabama. There would have been a lot less riding on it if Georgia defensive backs could only have swatted that ball down. Auburn is obviously "good", but I don't know how good we're actually talking about here. They were lucky to beat Mississippi State and Washington State really pushed them. Even against A&M I felt that they got some breaks and Manziel was hurt during the last drives where they needed him the most. But they had a special regular season and went 11-1, so nobody can take that away from them. To me, they look like a top 10 team that got lucky enough to be in a position where they can play for a national title. Anyone who winds up playing for a national title needs a little luck along the way

Come to think of it, Auburn was pretty lucky too on that last drive a couple of years ago when we played them in the natty.

You have to play to the whistle. Someone should remind Alabama of that.

Part of the problem was the personnel on the field. Auburn had more athletes on the field to defend the field goal and Bama mostly had offensive lineman, the placeholder, and the kicker. Defending a returned FG can be difficult with that on the field.

Yeah, Saban should have had some athletes on the field. He admitted as much after the game. They still should have forced the runner to the sideline and out of bounds.

As I was watching Auburn run all over them I kept thinking Hyde and Miller would have a field day. I think the two best teams are in the catbird seat with a pair of Tigers lurking should one fall.

Yet Mark May said on ESPN that if Ohio State played in the SEC, they would have three losses. Right. That kind of depends on the conference schedule we're talking about and the draw from the other division. Missouri and Auburn both didn't play crazy-difficult schedules. I think it's obvious that Texas A&M kind of went through the motions against Missouri. Missouri also gets credit for beating Georgia and Florida when it's obvious that those teams weren't up to full speed healthwise. And Missouri lost to the best team they've played (South Carolina). Ole Miss is average, not any different than a B1G team like Minnesota or Michigan. So....Where would the three losses be? And why would you assume that Ohio State would be so overrated that they couldn't even beat one of those three difficult tests? Dumb statement. You don't play an entire conference, you play a schedule. And those games are played in a certain context.

Missouri is a very good team, no doubt. But they get a free pass becauuuuuuse.........You guessed it: S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C!

Ohio State could be overrated, but they are obviously in the mix as far as being one of the top 10 teams in the nation, at worst.

Can't figure out Auburn. This is a team that clearly out-lucked itself and isn't a top 5, or even top 10 team. What are the odds they catch almighty Alabama on a terrible day, and what are the odds they win consecutive games on two of the luckiest plays of the year? I admit it takes some luck to win a national title, but Auburn has had it in spades this year. Here's hoping Missouri knocks them off.

There will be nothing to contribute to this kind of excitement and debate during the year - just 13 fools in a room at the end of the year to determine everyone's fate based on their own individual criteria. It's the dumbest thing to ever happen and I hope it's a complete disaster. If you're going to do a playoff, do it right. Shoulda kept the BCS and incorporate an 8-team field based on much of the same existing BCS criteria. First and second-round games on home campuses - title game at rotating BCS venue. This behind closed doors stuff is garbage.

Absolutely agree. No sense in throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Has the BCS really done that poor of a job in terms of ranking teams? It seems to me that the majority of the complaints stem from the fact that the humans voters can't decide which two teams out of three to put in the title game and it has nothing to do with the formulas. I'd take a mix of human pollsters and computer formulas over Archie Manning and Condoleeza Rice any day of the week. My best guess is that their picks would resemble consensus, but I'm sure the minute they throw in a head scratcher and a team gets shafted, all hell will break loose.

Seeding and at-large selections at the FCS level are often way out of left-field and the fan bases of those teams usually cry foul. I'm sure the committee will eventually do something crazy that nobody expects that will garner them all kinds of scrutiny. A lot of Missouri Valley Conference fans were upset that teams like Youngstown State got passed over for Southern Utah, Furman, and South Carolina State (or maybe Bethune-Cookman had the at-large, either way one of those got the auto bid from the MEAC and the other had an at-large). It's stupid stuff like that that makes the committee seem so disconnected from reality. The MVC was obviously the toughest conference and they beat up on each other and a team from the middle of the pack from that conference would waste three of those schools that I mentioned on most days. And then they awarded Butler a home playoff game....Butler, as in the champions of the Pioneer Conference....As in, no scholarships. Butler promptly lost to Tennessee State 31-0 and TSU hardly even showed up.
