I would love to see that. Oregeron has been a proven recruiter.

The Washington Tyee booster club is frothing. They will press for a very high profile coach and will pay what it takes....I think....Not sure who may be available, but they will beat the bushes.
Washington State extended Mike Leach's contract and gave him more money. Shows what a 5-5 record will do for you and a one PAC 12 win last year....when the one win was against Washington...Win the Apple cup and you will play another day. I think this is a good match and if he can stand living in Pullman...then good for him.

USC confirmed on Monday that Ed Orgeron will not return to the Trojans next season in a statement on the team website --- Orgeron commented on his exit in the release:
Ed Orgeron: "I am grateful to the University of Southern California for the great time I had here, I'm especially grateful for the players on this year's team, the coaching staff and the Trojan Family for the way they all fought through adversity and became one. I'm also thankful for all the Trojan players and family members who have become close personal friends during my 11 years at USC. I am especially proud of this year's team and coaching staff, who had to start a new season and then bonded, played together as a family and competed like Trojans. I'll forever be grateful to the University of Southern California. Fight On!"
USC lost Orgeron altogether, rather than the interest to keep him on as a recruiter, and possible coaching assistant.
Obviously, Orgeron was never a candidate, as before USC went into contact with Sarkisian, they were attempting to lure in Chris Petersen (Boise State) ... and when Petersen turned them down, they went into woo mode with James Franklin (Vanderbilt); who also declined the job.
So, it is more accurate to say, USC is settling for Sarkisian, as he was not the first choice.
To pile on a little; I think this here is an curious statistic:
Orgeron had more PAC 12 wins this year (6) than Sarkisian's single season best at Washington (5)

Can't blame Orgeron for bolting. Hayden is a complete butthead for keeping him on the hook when they were never serious about hiring him.

I can't believe it. Why in the world would USC hire 7 win Sark? Oh right, now 8...and why would Sark bolt just now that Washingten has a fancy new 200 million stadium upgrade? I work for a living so I don't have time to keep up with this stuff but this just amazes me. Is it true that Wilcox bolted with him? If I were Olgeron, I'd get the hell out of that place as soon as I could.

That's what he did.

A curious hire to say the least. My money is on it being slightly better than the latter Kiffin years. He can recruit, but he is an average head coach. You need to be good in both areas if you are ever going to approach the success of the Pete Carroll years.

My thoughts too. The winners in all of this are Petersen and Franklin.

It will be interesting to see where Orgeron ends up.
I wonder if he wants to stay in the west or would consider openings in the east?

Appears Hayden wants to go back to the Carroll years with a younger personality with smooth talk and media poise, not some rough and tough Cajun; that is what it boils down to. They want a John McKay...not happening...none of those left. Oregeron will get offers after the bowls, I think he will have several choice to pick from. He gets an agent and just sits back.

Exactly. Franklin has it pretty good at Vanderbilt. He's done pretty good with Vandy so far, and they like him.
I can't believe they would not give Oregeron at least one year. You saw what happen when he took over....they tore off a string of wins.
May the USC program flounder forever....I am no longer on board with them winning a single game. After they fired the unmentionable coach I was excited to see them rapidly improve and throw a string of impressive wins under Oregeron.
Maybe that's just because the players liked playing without Coach unmentionable.....I don't know.

Orgeron is not a smooth LA sort of guy.
He is a great coach but a poor cultural fit.
And speaking of that, what I haven't figured out is how a young, hip, black wearing, surfer dude like Dana Holgorsen fits in at West Virginia.
The WVU fans complain that he never wears the blue and gold but rather black, that he won't visit local schools because he says there is no talent in West Virginia (probably right but it would be good PR), that his hair is too fashionable, that he shuns boosters and local reporters.
And...he is losing games...

I would be surprised if Dana Holgorsen were there in 4 years. West Virginia needs a coach that understands West Virginia. Ohio State has never did well with a coach who didn't understand Ohio State traditions either.
