Wow, is all I can really say here. There is just under two minutes with (I believe) 30 seconds between plays. So, considering the time of running the play, eating clock, and the fact that Colorado State had no timeouts, Leach really could have just taken knees at that point and punted the ball away. Colorado State would have had to go 70 yards minimum with no timeouts in under 30 seconds and would have had to convert the two pointer. Running the ball to try to get the first to put the game away for good is obviously defensible, but there's no sense in running read options which can be risky between handoffs and when play resumed from the first review, Leach snapped it with 20 seconds on the play clock. And then there's the matter of the RB having his knee about three inches above the ground powering ahead for an extra yard when yardage isn't what matters at that point. That clock management was kindergarten-material, and I usually defend Mike Leach.

Also, Wazzu was throwing the ball on the series prior to their last, which you could argue was needlessly risky.

And the other problem was that they were running it at their best linebacker, which is kind of crazy too. You usually run away from the team's best defender. It was brutal.

I bet Husky fans are delighted though
