College QB Discussion.. Sort of

I was watching (on YouTube) the Sugar Bowl when Ohio State played Florida State. This was right before I started keeping up with college football. i was just thinking about college quarterbacks that time has sort of forgotten about.
Rank the following QB's based on overall performance, having them on your fantasy team, etc.
1- you want the most to 6- you want the least
Craig Krenzel
Thad Busby
Rex Grossman
Eric Crouch
Joey Harrington
Jason White

I always thought of Krenzel as the "gamer." Which I guess is a euphemism for not putting up big numbers, but he was a decent QB. Crouch and Harrington were very effective collegiate QBs. Busby was before I started watching the college game. Jason White was weird because he wasn't that good yet he somehow scored a ton of points for Oklahoma. I assume his success at Oklahoma had more to do with his supporting cast than anything else.

Krenzel always seemed like the finisher to me. Harrington always impressed me for some reason. Crouch I only saw play a few times. I agree with what you said about White. But Grossman. That dude shocked me. He could place a ball where only his players could catch it. Loved watching Rex play. Busby I know very little about.

See, this is one of the reasons I like having you around ... just when we seem to run dry, you post up these intriguing inquiries that really make you think.
1. Joey Harrington; to me, the best of the bunch
2. Rex Grossman; an Indiana High School phenom turned Spurrier product
3. Eric Crouch; did just enough, most games, to keep his team competitive
4. Jason White; so much talent on those Sooners teams, hard to say how good he was
5. Thad Busby; really only shined 1 season (1997)
6. Craig Krenzel; did just enough to manage the offense, on a defensive team

Man Cane from the Bend, kind of makes a guy teary eyed. I do try to think up some intriguing stuff. I would have probably switched #1 and #2. Not a major deal though. I watched Grossman more than Harrington and that's probably why I would switch them. I agree with the statements about them all though.

But Krenzel never lost a game in 2002 and was the key cog in winning the national championship. People give Clarett more credit in that game then he deserves.

Well, if you take Joey Harrington off of that list and replace him with Tebow you would have a very good list of guys who had a wonderful college campaign that I would not even consider drafting.
Grossman I thought to be one of the most over-rated QB's in college...even though he had great numbers. Maybe deep down in my soul I new his teammate Jesse Palmer would one day make me want to jam 16 penny nails in my ear and watch a WNBA pre-season game. Of course, playing for the Ole Ball Coach didn't help either.

Not to be a homer, but David Greene was a fantastic college quarterback, but he hardly played a snap in the NFL. Go figure.
He's the winningest QB in college football, and hardly had a pro career at all. It's strange.

I for one think there's a pretty good reason they've all been pretty much forgotten. Joey Harrington and Rex Grossman were probably the two best of that bunch beyond college but still quite pedestrian in the NFL. Always amazes me how many lower-level draftees from the college ranks have stellar NFL careers and how many first-rounders fizzle.
