This post is coming at the start of the second half, and ... uh-oh.
1 play, end zone. UCLA was down 17-6 ... now ahead 34-17.
AZ State is gonna need to regroup in a hurry, or it's gonna get bad.

Holding call, play one of their drive, 2cnd down nodda.
2cnd 21 --- decent enough play, 11 yards, 3rd & 10.
And now they are on the move.
We'll see though.
The crowd is outta it at the moment.

Sun Devils manage a drive into the red zone, and come up with a field goal, pulling within 14.
Kickoff, returned for a touchdown, UCLA now ahead by 21.
This game is getting away from Arizona St.

62-27 final ...
Arizona State is going to need to do something about their defense & special teams. They will not be able to compete in the Pac successfully playing so loosely.
They had a ten point lead, and all the momentum. Once UCLA got it going, the Sun Devils simply couldn't keep pace. They just aren't as good as advertised.

Arizona State was probably the best 4-loss team in the country last year, but they had to regroup in a big way defensively. I think they added a ton of JUCO guys, so this defense isn't going to be very competitive in Pac-12 play. Plus no Taylor Kelly, and their odds of winning drastically fell. This was the UCLA team though that I thought we'd see who wasn't there in the first few weeks. It'll be interesting to see how they develop over the course of the year and whether or not they can knock off Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
UCLA is at their best when Hundley bombs away downfield to his receivers, and that's exactly what they did last night. Even with the 500+ yards allowed, they played passably on defense.

Actually, a 100 yard kick return, 95 yard interception return, 85 yard run, and Hundley scoring with his legs accounted for 4 touchdowns.
Arizona State had nothing in the tank for the 2cnd half ... two possessions with turnover on downs.
UCLA started slow --- but otherwise, dominated the game. The passing game was there; the running game was just as effective.

That will help
I've always liked UCLA's wide receivers, part of the reason I picked them as the #3 team for my playoff (although I feel much less comfortable about that prediction now than I did in the preseason). Fuller, Duarte, Lucien, Massington, and Payton can stretch the field.

UCLA for as long as I can remember, which certainly deserves some scrutiny, has been a QB centered team. When they have one, they are in the hunt, when they do not, not so good.

From what I've heard and from what little i've witnessed....today is the first day they have lived up to the hype. That was a thumping.
