Yep, this week was full of carnage. Somebody had to fall on their faces today with all the ranked vs ranked matchups, but it just so happened to be that most of the favorites were the ones who fell. With this playoff format, one loss isn't going to eliminate a team. Maybe not even two losses with the SEC champion. There's still a lot of football left to be played and I guarantee that Ole Miss or Mississippi State aren't going to be undefeated or anything like that. The SEC West is just too deep as it stands today. I don't know who will emerge from the Pac-12 after UCLA's bad loss to Utah and Oregon's loss to Arizona, and again, I'm sure that the representative won't be Arizona.

If I were a betting man, I wouldn't throw any of these teams out of the picture yet (except for Wisconsin; they haven't mastered the forward pass). Oregon is still probably the best team in the Pac-12, Oklahoma or Baylor are still probably the best teams in the Big 12, and the best team in the SEC is still probably Auburn or Alabama. We'll see if Mississippi State can get past their next hurdle because they get Auburn next.

Here's my four as it stands today:

Florida State
Auburn
Michigan State
OU/Baylor/Oregon

I saw the UCLA result coming from a mile away, a team that looked rather competent here and there, and then manages to thrash ASU...the set up for the fall was too perfect.

Auburn was the big winner this weekend. Hands down!

You are completely right WoVeU..

Auburn was the big winner, and I HATE saying that.

I think the UCLA thing was hype as well, as is true in several conferences this year, especially in the SEC West. In the Pac-10, I thought USC was going to be a solid second to Oregon after they beat Stanford, but NO ONE saw Arizona coming at the start of this roller coaster ride; and I wouldn't be surprised to see them take USC again next week.

The sleepers in the magnolia state are going to shake up that division as well. How is LSU tied with Arkansas for the worst record in the West? I've expected and have been big on Ole Miss for the last several years, and felt it was only a matter of time before they took Alabama down. Not a football genius, but I saw that coming, not surprised....but the Bulldogs I did not see, they completely dismantled and embarrassed A&M...EMBARRASSED.

I don't like the playoff system as it stands now, but on a positive note, at least we don't have the flying the ointment statements anymore from the talking hair-do's at ESPN.
