Pre-Weekend Games

I've noticed in the discussions about these games, there have been a few; "I forgot there were games on tonight" or, "I was unaware that this game was playing".
So, I thought I' give others a jump start on the pre-weekend schedule:
--- times of course are listed as eastern standard time ---
Thursday, Oct. 16th
7:30 PM Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh [espn]
10:00 PM No. 20 Utah at Oregon State [Pac-12 Network]
Friday, Oct. 17th
8:00 PM Fresno State at Boise State [espn]
9:00 PM Temple at Houston [espnU]
---
My personal bias would see the start of the College Football week begin on Thursdays. Any games that follow are in my own opinion of the previous week.
However, for those that were either curious, or unaware about this past Tuesday Night's game:
Louisiana-Lafayette 34 -- Texas State 10

I've lost a lot of interest in the Thursday night games. They have been having really unattractive matchups on Thursdays since the NFL decided to play at the same time (NFL Thursday Night games have mostly been awful too). That and 3 hours of Rece Davis' grating, nasly drawl and mediocre color commentary are enough for me to shy away from the games. I like Rece Davis a lot (he did local sports in mid-Michigan once upon a time), but he doesn't have an announcer's voice.
In fact, now that I think about it, most of the ESPN broadcasting teams are pretty terrible. I'm in the minority, but I like Musburger, even if he is an inadvertent bandwagoner. Nessler is great as well, but that's about the extent of it. I was always a huge fan of Ron Franklin, but it's too bad he let his grudge against women sportscasters continually get the best of him

The Utah - Oregon State game was as good as it gets as far a entertainment. The results, not to my liking, but Utah's defense was nuts. 2 OT.

Both of last Thursday Night's games were entertaining.
Close, well played, with plenty of momentum shifts.
Sadly, I did not see the Friday Night games (which is unusual for me), so I cannot comment on how those played out.
But for Thursday, if you missed the games because you chose not to tune in do to lackluster competition in previous Thursday Nights --- then you missed out on some fun football.

Miami looked good against VT....Miami can run the ball with Duke Johnson.
Next Thursday....FSU vs Louisville's top ranked defense.....this should be a very tough game for the cardiac kids to pull out.

Boise State made the case you can win with the ugliest uniforms ever sewn.

Boise looked pretty good....
I wouldn't carp about ugly uniforms when you play on that gawd awful blue field. Who notices?

I personally love the blue field. Although I hope they are the only one's to ever do it. It's a good "gimmick", and gives them a home field advantage for players who aren't used to the color.
Donovan, didn't some team that had to play Boise paint their practice field blue at one point??

Oregon State did in 2010. The lost the game but in 2010 teams were trying to do anything they could to beat Boise at home. I will tell you, when you are actually at the stadium, the blue is nowhere near as obnoxious as it is on TV. It really is quite striking. I'm with you. Glad they did and do it, but one is enough.
