TARGETING!?!

WOW, there have been 2 calls one yesterday and one in the Virginia/ Virginia Tech game. If the rules they are using were in place when I was in High School I would have been ejected in every game! I'm seeing guys bury their face mask in a players chest then come up into the chin and under the facemask of the opposing player and they are calling this targeting/leading with the helmet, a 15 yard penalty and automatic ejection from the game period no challenge no appeal. I understand safety and all that but some of this stuff is nuts or am I not seeing what the officials are seeing? The targeting call in yesterdays game was in the Texas A&M game. Can someone explain this to me please?

You have to have your head back and you have to drive with your body. It is hard not to have incidental contact with your head. That is the problem I have with it. If they separated intentional for incidental contact I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.

Certainly no standards for this and it seems up to the individual refs. in each game as far as I've seen.
