Ohio State v. Alabama

This will be classic football. I suspect both coaches will spend the time emphasizing...we are just going to do what got us here. Not going to worry about the other team. Alabama doesn't seem to have any weakness in personnel...15 deep. That may be the difference. Going to be a good game.

I just want to say, I do not generally believe in coincidence and certainly not in the case. The committee seeded these four teams to be the money games. Oregon v Florida State has every plot and sub plot you want to exploited. They have them in the semi's because they did not want to loose this match up if the outcome did not make it happen. Alabama and Ohio State are classic....blood sweat and more blood. and in the final..you will have opposite type teams......not a coincidence. Follow the money.

I think that is spot on. Not only where they were seeded, but also which teams are seated. I checked about going to the game and a three day package would cast me about $4500 including game tickets. Bama will have lots of butts in the seats, but Buckeyes are filling most of the hotel rooms. Put Baylor or TCU in and that price drops at least a grand.

I'm going to watch this game for free at home.

I've said this too. Couldn't agree more. It does add a degree of un-authenticity to their picks though...that's just me.

Indeed it does. Read Congroves comments on the front page about the committee, he's not bashful.

I just read it and I have to say that I agree with Dave Congrove completely. I think we all knew that the committee was a bad idea. Also the more teams in the playoff the more teams you will have with an argument that didn't make it. The only thing this playoff has really accomplished is they are going to make the teams and ESPN more money.

I think it is also the first step toward getting rid of the non moneymaking bowls. I look for the first discussion of getting rid of them by next bowl season.

If you did not have the play off...it would be short and sweet...

Using the old BCS methodology, the gurus say it would have been Alabama vs FSU....

It is better...but there will always be whining. If you had 8 teams, the 9th and 10th would cry.

That would have been OK with me.

I agree.....If what Spence say happens, the bowls go away...then that is not so good. It is not that I oppose change....always...once in awhile....it is we when we destroy what is good, for something unknown, doesn't make sense to me. We had four bowls at one time.....Sugar, Cotton, Rose and Cotton. That worked....sure there was no national champions and a lot of teams were left out....then some more were added in around the late sixties...Peach I think was first....not sure. That was good....the old was not harmed. Now for a National Championship, which Mr. Billybud accurately state, somebody is going to whine no matter what, we have taken the traditions away and still have not accomplished a definitive National Champion.

The guru's may have chosen Alabama v FSU, but the money may have dictated a West Coast team....money games...

They can crown a champion now, but if TCU and/or Baylor wins their bowl games, they will believe they could have been champ. It will always be that way.

Heck..Baylor wins and they belivee THEY should have been champs...while TCU, with a win, syas the same thing.

But both of them, with a win, will still have won the same amount of games as the losers in the first round playoffs (and less then FSU even if FSU loses).

What if FSU and Alabama lose in the first round and Ohio State beats Oregon in the Finals....I wonder how many National Champions we will have then?

We'd have one champ...Ohio State

And, after beating two of the top four teams back to back...more power to them.

You're so stoic. I suspect in the end this will be the results....FSU beats Oregon....Alabama beats OSU...FSU beats Alabama

FSU National Champions. Air Force still crying.

Now your talkin fantasy. Ohio State has 4 first year offensive lineman against a veteran Bama defensive line. If Ohio State somehow gets by Bama the two Rose Bowl teams would be licking their chops.
