Call Leonard Fournette's Statline vs. Eastern Michigan

An unstoppable force meets extremely movable objects when Leonard Fournette and LSU play host to Eastern Michigan. The reason behind this post is that Eastern Michigan has THE worst run defense I have EVER laid witness to. It is historic. EMU's run defense has really been an issue in recent seasons, but this is the worst I've ever seen it. Ray Lawry of Old Dominion went for roughly 250 and four scores, Brian Hill of Wyoming (a good RB) went for 242 yards and the team went over 400, and Army today ran for over 550 yards against this sorry group.

So taking game flow and protection of their star runner into account, I'll say Fournette gets 170 yards on 14 carries to go alongside three touchdowns. That's pretty conservative. He could probably break the NCAA record if he played a full four quarters. I'd say at least 600 yards rushing for a full game.

Its about time they won a game. They also have looked pretty pathetic, even by their low standards. I really thought a 6 win season was possible. I watched a good chunk of the game on E3 and that gray field looked awful on my laptop. Is it that bad in person too? Maybe on TV would be bearable but I had a hard time watching that field.

As for Fournette...I think they really go for a statement to his Heisman campaign. I think that will play in to him being feed the ball a lot and for 3 quarters, instead of 1 plus. I see 23 carriers 261 yards and 4 TDs. Maybe even a couple screen plays/quick passes for about 60 receiving yards and another TD.

The only problem with LSU is that Fournette is all they have IMO. But even with that, you would hope they don't leave him in for more than 2 quarters.

What often happens with a one dimensional offense is opponents figure out a way to put the kibosh and the school with no other arrows in the quiver just "run" the Fournette's into the ground.

True, but someone needs to prove they can stop him before being one dimensional will hurt them.

I would probably go so far as to say that Fournette is one of the top 20 running backs in the world right now. The guy should be in the NFL, but he's stuck in college for another season after this one. I think Les will call off the dogs early after Fournette gets his couple touchdowns to keep pace in the Heisman race. I don't know if he'll wear him out. But, if they really wanted to make a statement here, he can set the NCAA record if they want to. There's no question about it. He would get 600 yards rushing for a full four quarters if they desired to run him that hard, no doubt in my mind. If EMU kicks off and LSU starts on the 30 or something, one pitch to Fournette and it can be an easy 70 yards. He hits the hole, runs through arm tackles, and he's faster than anyone on Eastern's defense. You're going to see a couple big runs in this one.

The unsung stars of this game could be the #2, #3, and #4 backs for LSU. I'm guessing they can combine for an extra five touchdowns or so. This is going to be bloody

As for Eastern's field, I've never seen it in person. I've been to Rynearson Stadium in person before, but that was before they installed the gray turf. I was tempted to go see this game. I might catch one later this season, hopefully against a team that doesn't run the ball with mild competence or else it'll be unwatchable.
