They Should Listen to This Forum

Over the last years I beleive this forum has a greater consensus of common sense regarding College Football than most. Here is where we are.

I normally don't have much respect for Yahoo sports, but I think in this case they are spot on. The arrogance of the powers that be in cfb knows no bounds. The presidents, and make no mistake they control the NCAA, need to enter the real world for a change and do something that isn't based on their pocket books for college athletics.

The network (ESPN) calls the shots re game times and planning.....The conferences go along because of the billion dollar contracts.
Did anybody on the East Coast watch WVU-Arizona State?...it kicked off at 10:25 my time....and TV was delayed by the TCU overtime so that it actually came on about 11:00. I yawned and said "I'll check the score in the morning".

That is exactly what happened and happens. CFP in essence hired ESPN to manage their product. Without a discussion on whether or not they have the right to do so as the main participants are 'under contract' but received remuneration in kind is an issue but wills set that aside. So we got the match-ups we got. Stadiums were sparsely attended, start times were all over the place (as you did not want to start watching a game at 11:00 PM, I wasn't excited about watching some at 6:00 AM) and TV viewership was down 13%. The finals will need to make up the difference and if it does, everyone at the bank is happy. If not, you will see a different program next year.
I am to the point where next year I will follow some teams, watch some games and try not to get too excited about the NC which I say I don't support, but seem to always care about how is it administered.
Coaching this year in the play offs has been terrible in many games. You know the ones better than I.

I admit to watching the West Virginia game. My niece goes to West Virginia and I have some friends who have went there so I have a small rooting interest in them. I'm sure there weren't many that were willing to finish it off though.

Well...FSU's game, the Peach Bowl, had a +20% increase in viewership. To my chagrin.
