UL may become bowl eligible this weekend

Something none of us dared think of at the end of last season with a new staff coming in to coach a broken team left by Petrino. UL could actually become bowl eligible this weekend with a win at an improved Miami. I'm sure that even if we lose to Miami we'll win at least one more among the remaining 4 games. CCR rankings put us slightly above Miami but it is a road game.

keeping my fingers crossed, Swamp Daddy :P

Normally, I'd say good luck ...

But not this week,

I'm hoping for a good game, where the players stay healthy.

I'm also hoping for a [__] win ... which, by the way, would give us Bowl Eligibility, too.

Hi: Well, it's hard to find anything good to say about the game. Miami simply kicked out butt. Each year they do seem to lay a clunker; but, it had been so far above expectations to this point that the fans here were unrealistic. If you say anything good we scored 27 points and statistically out gained them. Lots of big plays that have been a sort of a trademark this year. But, at times little defense. Still, they didn't give up; but, I think this shows the talent level isn't there for UL yet. Many players jumped ship last year as Petrino's coaching went downhill. Some real talent left.

We'll see about next year, Swamp Daddy

You have some real Talent and Speed at Running Back.
And you have potential game changers at Wide Out.

The Coaching staff will need to recruit well, and build around what is already there.

Tough game, when your defense is not up to par. The one knock I had about Coach Petrino, is that he just doesn't get defense. So he doesn't really understand how to evaluate the recruits who will give him the best chance to win on that side of the ball.

The current coaching staff had to inherent what Petrino left behind. Which, with the outgoing players, wasn't a whole lot to structure a team from.

They did a fine job getting Louisville to improvement increments.

And, hey ... you've still got N.C. State, Syracuse & Kentucky all on schedule.

None of those teams necessarily have an advantage over the Cardinals this year. Hang in there; as a post season is yet within reach.

Well, it didn't happen against the U but we made it tonight by beating a NC State team that had injuries, etc. The game started off much like the Virginia game in which it looked bad for UL  . However UL scored first in the second quarter but NC State lead 10-7 at the half. An explosive 3rd quarter saw UL up 28-13 on big plays. The kicking game has suffered with the season ending injury to a top notch kicker; but, the third string kicker pulled off a fake punt TB. After running around for what seamed a long time he throws a TB pass to the back of the end zone. Exciting play for sure. NC State tried a comeback and made it 34-20 late in the 4th and drove 97 yards to the UL 3 but couldn't put in on their final 4 downs.

May have to watch this one again.

Exhausted; but, satisfied: Swamp Daddy 8)
