Are The Refs Trying to Give the Game to Clemson?

Postby Cane from the Bend » Sat Nov 07, 2020 11:57 pm

Clemson has been committing pass interference all night long. Hands on the face of the helmets of ND players before the ball arrives. One in the end zone, where the receiver caught the ball, and they didn't even review when they called incomplete.

Another hand on the face of the helmet on the sideline, results in an incomplete pass.

Another, just moments ago, where they actually threw the flag, as the defender ran into the back of the receiver, and pulled his arms down before the ball arrived ... then they picked up the flag, calling it fourth down.

I don't like Notre Dame ... but seriously. It feels like the refs are protecting Clemson's #1 ranking here.

That was game 1 ...

I believe Clemson will win the rematch in the ACC title game.

In the end, it came down to a strong defensive stand.

The 1rst OT was quick! Both did everything right on Offense.

2cnd OT, Clemson just couldn't keep contain on Book, which opened ND's passing game.

Clemson acted as if they didn't expect the pressure on 1rst down. Huge Sack. Followed up by a second Huge Sack.

3rd & 24 turns into 4th & 24 in the blink of an eye.

4th down desperation play, just couldn't get it done.

Notre Dame will be #2 right behind Alabama. I don't see anyone else beating either of these teams [Notre Dame/Clemson], down the stretch. And, if ND keeps the rematch close enough ... it very well could be the ACC with 2 teams in the Playoff.

As for all of the records Clemson was touted as having on the line.

Something they didn't mention, when one of those boxed factoids they so casually highlighted across our screens, was what the 36 regular season game winning streak meant, overall.

During Miami's ridiculous run, between the last 3 games of 1999 and 2003, the `Canes went on a 37 game regular season winning streak.
During USC's amazing years of dominance, they had a regular season winning streak of 37 games.

Clemson missed the mark, by 1 game, at 36. Had they beaten ND to night, they would have tied that record. And then likely would have surpassed it in Tallahassee two weeks from now --- Well, that will no longer happen.

They fell 1 game shy of tying the record. As ND now holds the nations, current, longest winning streak at 13 [with the Bowl win vs Iowa State].
