Tulsa -v- Tulane

Postby Cane from the Bend » Thu Nov 19, 2020 10:30 pm

I would have preferred to have this about tonight's games, but ...

With the Covid-Mafia pressuring the nation, Utah State @ Wyoming was Cancelled.

Anyhow ...

I'm surprised at how gritty this game is. These teams have both been rather decent on offense, this season --- Yet, we're approaching mid 3rd quarter, and the score is O-O.

These defenses are really stepping it up tonight. Making stands when the other guy is threatening to get into the Red Zone.

Right now, Tulsa is at there own 15, after forcing a punt.

Tulane went up, 14-0, as Tulsa's quarterback goes out injured ...

Looked like curtains for Tulsa. Being down to their 3rd string QB. Then, they work their way back into the game, just recently tying it up on a 4th & 13 play inside the 20, with only 3 minutes left in the game.

Tulane returns the kick to Tulsa's 30, and has great field position,

With 2 minutes to go, Tulane is there near field goal range. However, there have been 3 missed field goals between these teams earlier in the game. Two of them, by Tulane.

The Green Wave go up 21-14 with 1:38 seconds in regulation.

Fair Catch called for, Tulsa will start their drive from the 25, and have 1 timeout remaining.

0:06 seconds left in the game ...

3 & 7 from the 36 yard line.

3rd string qb throw a deep ball to the back of the end zone ... Touchdown! as time expires.

Extra Point, Good ...

Going to OT.

WoW!!

Tulane, moves the ball, really well, and threatens to put the ball into the end zone.

Inside the 10, QB drops to throw a dump pass inside the middle, when Tulsa #23 Collins intercepts the ball, returning it 95 yards for a Touchdown.

final score: Tulsa 30 - Tulane 24

Tulsa fighting back to win, after being down, 14-0 in the 4th.

Collins, for second week in a row, comes up hero for the Golden Hurricanes with an INT.

Last week, Tulsa was down 21-0 to SMU, and came back to win it late, when Collins intercepted SMU's potential game winning drive.

What a fun game.

Let's hope we have more of this Tomorrow & Saturday.

Friday Night Games:
Syracuse @ Louisville -- 7:00 pm
Purdue @ Minnesota -- 7:30 pm
Umass @ FAU -- 8:00 pm
New Mexico @ Air Force -- 9:30 pm
