Postby Mountainman » Fri Feb 05, 2021 11:53 pm

I’m picking Tampa Bay 31 - Kansas City 20 8) 8) 8)

I'm on board with that ...

I figured I likely wouldn't watch the Super Bowl, as I've trained myself to turn numb to all things nfl.

I was just planning on flipping back to the game, periodically, to check out what the score might be.

Now, for the first time in several years, I'm somewhat intrigued by the game. I'm thinking I may watch it.

I'm going with Tampa, as well; 34-24

Yep....... a little more football being played at the Super Bowl and a little less fanfare would be nice. 8) 8)

My heart wants the Buccaneers to win....my head says it will be the Chiefs.

I don't like Brady. It is a Buckeye thing, but it is hard to argue his place in NFL history.

No joke ...

Brady has a remarkable profile.

That Tampa Bay team was rather uncouth & undisciplined. Tom stepped in, and completely changed their culture.

What did the Patriots get by not resigning Brady's Contract: a 7-9 record
What did Tom get by being let go into free agency: a 7th Super Bowl Ring

Brady was outstanding, no doubt........ but I’ll say this. The coaches that came up with the defensive scheme for the Bucs, and the execution of that defense by the players was impressive and outstanding too. 8) 8) 8)

amen to the Buck defense...

Hard to win with zero TD's.

No matter how the college coaches keep trying to change the narrative, defense does now and will always determine championships.

I've read that it was the worst rated Super Bowl since 1969. Which is crazy, because you would think Brady leading another team would be a draw. But I think too many people are over the woke nonsense. I could be wrong.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

It was the worst ratings in 14 years; since the Chicago/Indianapolis Super Bowl, from 2007.

This year, the viewership was 96.4 million
In 2007, the viewership was 93.1 million

However, this decline over the last 14 years is quite telling, when the is a lock down order in many parts of the country, one would think, all of those extra bodies at home, would clearly want to have something to feel connected.

Then again, since many people who do watch the Super Bowl, do so in larger groups, making it more of a social occasion; there may have been a serious disconnect, as the event reminds everyone how fractured our society is, by distancing mandates.

I'm sure there were certainly many people who chose other activities, because of the "Wokeness" you alluded to. I, myself, changed the channel every time a public lecture announcement appeared, Commercial or In Game Broadcast.

I watched most of the game [started watching with about 5 minutes left in the 1rst quarter], and have my opinion for what I saw. Though, mostly checked out when the virtue signaling took place.

I don't disagree ...

But I think the culture of the Bucs playing more aggressively started with Brady in practice.

Now there's a hypertension moment for good ol' Spence.

Tom Brady is a Buc.

It must sound more egregious than it reads ... Spence can always remind us that he's a "Buc", not a "Buck".
