Georgia Gets Guys ...

Postby Cane from the Bend » Fri Jun 11, 2021 6:33 am

Okay, so, now that we're outta the dead period ...

Georgia has announce that they received two commitment to transfer in, two 5 Star prospects.

Sr. Derion Kendrick: Transferring from Clemson to Athens
Fr. Arik Gilbert: (originally from Marietta, Ga) Transferring from LSU to Athens

Derion Kendrick was recruited to Clemson as a Wide Receiver, but would alternate snaps, playing more as a Cornrer Back. He even had his moments on special teams, as the return man. And last season was graded as a 1rst Team All ACC player.

Arik Gilbert was the highest ever ranked Tight End in the ranking era. And the only Tight End to win the Gatorade National Player of the Year --- This had 1,800 yards receiving in one season at the Tight End position. Just, unheard of --- He played as a true freshman at LSU in the 2020 season, and with the NCAA ruling an inert eligibility year, due to uncontrollable circumstances, maintains a Freshmen status.

16 --- 5 Star Players
51 --- 4 Star players

67 of 86 Scholarship players were Blue Chip recruits.

Let me put some numbers into perspective, here.

Alabama, since 2008, has had 41 draft eligible 5 Star players [that's 41 who stayed in Tuscaloosa until drafted into the nfl]

Georgia has more than a 3rd of that number on their current roster.

They have the deepest pool of talent in the country. It's gotta this year or bust for Georgia, you'd think.

Even if they don't win the National Title, it feels as though; if you can't at least get to the dance now, then when?

……….it’s apparent Georgia has the guys, but the Bulldogs have had the guys before, what they need is a win over Alabama to get the yoke off their neck that they themselves help strap on. 8) 8) 8)

But the truth is that coaches matter and Nick Saban is hard to beat if he has film on a team.

Yep, and the same with Florida. Though that curse seems to be wearing off lately, thanks to Spurrier years becoming a distant memory. I used to say that you could put a High School team in Florida colors and they would be competitive with Ga.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Very early. Alabama will be there in the end.

The five star recruits commit later in the cycle...Bama and Clemson will get theirs.
