Not a bad move ...

Now, if the ACC could get out from under the Mouse ears, maybe they could move towards a more lucrative deal, elsewhere.

Whether that's becoming a FOX acquisition, or making the transition to a streaming platform [it's only a matter of time before Apple & Amazon want a piece of the action], is up in the air.

The Pac-12, not having been able to land a contract with a network, could certainly benefit from inking a deal with someone like Netflix.

Yep ‘The Mouse’, aka Disney, and ‘Pinocchio’, aka Sankey, have shown to their willingness to use any means at their disposal to achieve the ends they want. As evidenced by their ambushing, colluding and wrecking an entire conference.

I’m glad to see the BigTen, PAC-12 and ACC step up and pull the reins in on these rodents and puppets……. 8) 8) 8)

The language being used is interesting, too.

Scheduling alliance sounds as though they will cross conference OoC games, including ND. Excluding SEC from scheduled games, in the regular season.

Not a terrible idea ...

However, this is just a gleaming example of how the Power Conferences will be leaving the Group of 5 teams behind.

And without OU & Texas, the Big XII will fade into obscurity, as the remaining brands scramble to find a home.

Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, the Kansas Collective and Iowa State are on the outside looking in, at the moment.

West Virginia may actually find a home in the ACC, along with the potential addition of Notre Dame, because of how the College Football Playoff is designed.

Generally, I wouldn't consider ND as a likely candidate for a Conference member, with their having stuck with their insistence on remaining independent.

And yet, with the Blueprint for 12 teams, seeing the Top Four Conference Champions getting a bye for the First Round ... unless the Irish are in a conference, they could never receive that bye.

And ND has a one of their Athletic department people sitting as a CFP Committee member. Which means, they voted in favor of this model.

Just a surface thought.

It just further drives home the fact that college football has no one steering the ship. I will be very surprised if there is such a thing as college football in 10 years. At least a version that includes students.

If anyone is steering the ship it is exactly the mouse.

It’s clear now what ‘The Mouse’ was attempting to do……. I’ve yet to see with certainty whether or not Sankey was a partner, complicit or just the idiot in the room who’s strings were being pulled by ‘The Mouse’, although Bob Bowlsby claims otherwise. :x :x :x

In any event, I’m glad the the BigTen, PAC12 and ACC have come together with an apparent move to stop the Mouse’s coup d’etat. 8) 8) 8)

But the left the Big12 out so I am not sure that was cool. If they negotiate a contract as a group with tv and also schedule either other exclusively, it could be a strong deal. Not sure it hurts the SEC but it could throw a wrench in the tv deal espn envisioned when all this started.

The Big12 has it’s own issues to dealt with, first and foremost is for the remaining 8 to stick together as a conference for the duration of their current contract with ESPN whether or not Texas and Oklahoma remain members for the duration of the contract or not and DO NOT let ESPN off the hook for those dollars……. way, way to much money at stake to do otherwise. There’s plenty of time to see what’s out there going forward and decide what to do and which way to go for the conference and/or each member.

Well, if the rumors are true, about the Big XII attempting to expand by inviting Cincinnati, Houston, UCF and Boise State to join the conference, that could explain why they did not attend the meeting between the BIG10, ACC and PAC12 where it was reported those three ‘agreed’ to not expand at this time. Who knows????? 8) 8) 8)

Not a bad move ...

Absorb the Houston Market, Orlando Market, Cincinnati Market and have a presence out west.

If the American wanted to survive, they could raid the Sun Belt, which only has 10 teams; plucking up App State, Coastal Carolina and Texas State [if they want to keep their Lone Star Market].

Then maybe the Mountain West could snatch up Arkansas State, to fill the space Boise will leave behind [unless they want to crawl back to BYU for a stronger program].

This would certainly leave the Sun Belt in a bad situation.

Or maybe the American would pilfer from CUSA, taking Marshall and UAB.

There are options out is this mess, for sure.

Well, there you go ...

Reports just came in; Boise State, Houston and UCF are expected to submit applications to the Big XII, and could be accepted as soon as September.

So, now it's a mutual interest, that seems to have serious traction.

The talking heads are already pontificating their rhetoric.

The espn spinners are saying that it feels like a lateral move for UCF and Boise.

And they are saying, Houston should move out west to join the Pac-12 so the Pac could get a footprint in Texas ...

I guess they didn't get the ACC, Big 10 Pac-12 agreement not to expand, memo.

Clearly they want the Big XII to go away.

I believe that was indeed the case. The Mouse was in a position to make a move that would put them in the drivers seat of college football. But now it appears they may have shown their hand too quickly and those who believe differently are reacting.

I’m still wondering if Sankey was a part of the Mouse’s planning or just simply the idiot in the room who’s strings were being pulled by the Mouse…. But after reading some of his comments in the aftermath I’m leaning toward him being the idiot in the room.
