I'm taking Nebraska in this one ...

Illinois is headed for a rough year.

Imagine, things being so bad that you turn to Bret Bielema as the headman.

New Coach [with a less than impressive track record], coming off of a Covid year, where the team finished 2-6.

They did, however, manage to beat Nebraska last season, in Lincoln, as one of those two wins [41-23].

Then again, Lovie was the coach ... and ... you know, Covid.

For Nebraska, they'd better win this game.

The road ahead is not a soft contingent. After Illinois, they get the scheduled win vs Fordham. But then their schedule looks like this:

Buffalo [who has proven to be no pushover]
@ Oklahoma
@ Michigan State
Northwestern
Michigan
@ Minnesota
Purdue
Ohio State
@ Wisconsin
Iowa

Now, Michigan State is certainly winnable. However, it is on the road, and it is right after the beating they are going to take in Norman.

Northwestern has been above average for some time now. And if they continue to trend up, I don't see Nebraska beating them. The Huskers have given themselves a lot of chances over the last couple of years, keeping games close enough to hope for a miracle finish. It's just, the ball tends to bounce the other way on them.

I don't know what to expect from Ole Blue this year. So, that one might be a toss up. The game versus Purdue in Lincoln should be a W.

At Minnesota is not going to be easy. The Gofers are under solid leadership, and they develop well. This looks like a loss for Big Red.

Look at those last 3 games. Maybe, if some things happen right for the Huskers, they split a W/L with one of Wisconsin & Iowa. But, right now, that lineup is a setting for a disastrous finish.

With a few breaks, Nebraska could end up with a 6-6 regular season record, and vying a Bowl Bid.

On the other hand; with that slate, 4-8 is not out of the realm of possibility.

ZERO days!
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
