Leadership, yes ...

I do not think it reduces the amount of madness inside the third ring.

So much to pick apart, here.

First, I just have to point this out, because I see so much Irony in the name, alone:

“The last few days have been chaotic,” said CFCF president Harvey “Lefty” Hightower. “We are concerned about the increased scrutiny and stress level placed upon our member coaches. Therefore, going forward, all member schools and coaches will be required to follow these emergency guidelines.”

I mean, seriously, a guy called "Lefty Hightower" ...?

Please tell me you also note the Socialist Ivory Tower symbolic profile as a president for the Coalition of Coaches.

Don't even get me started on how he has the same First Name, as Weinstein.

Or, the Batman implication, Harvey Dent, the District Attorney who became the Crime Boss, Two Face.

The irony becomes beyond reproach.

Hightower said Power Five football coaches always find discussions of salary to be awkward for them, so in the future, member schools will be required to provide a base 10-year, $100-million contract when any current contract expires.

“This way coaches and schools can avoid a virulent strain of Excessive Wealth Disorder,” Hightower said.

Nope, no disparity here ...

It's not really excessive wealth, if everyone receives a $10 million per yer base salary, right?

It's really just equity.

We are all valued the exact same ... win or lose.

“They can simply say they are following the rules.”

Uh-huh, got it ...

A prerequisite contract clause, which offers protection from external criticism without aversion, by preemptive deflection, while disregarding any sense of personal accountability.

The guidelines also impact how coaching changes will be announced. “There is so much misinformation that gets out there,” said Hightower. Under the new guidelines, all coaching change announcements will be divided equally among Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, Brett McMurphy of ESPN and Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.

(Thamel, McMurphy and Dodd have all agreed that the names of Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell, Iowa State coach Matt Campbell and Oregon coach Mario Cristobal shall be included in any speculative stories about coaching vacancies.)

Have our own hand selected personalized fraternal brotherhood of associated press, inside the associated press {I wonder if this came complete with a secret handshake, too}

Seriously, he literally said the 3 aforementioned media puppets have already agreed that; Fickell, Campbell and Cristobal are going to be included in any {meaning every} speculative stories {meaning true or not true, even knowingly so} about coaching vacancies {to help bolster the credibility of the coaching fraternity, as well as the sacred circle of media club members}.

The CFCF also wants to address the concerns of student athletes who feel as though their coach is abandoning them. The new guidelines require that each coach, upon announcing their departure, must spend at least two (2) minutes addressing his players.

The guidelines say the content is up to the coach, but it is suggested that the coach express how much they love the players and the school, that the decision has nothing to do with the money, and that it was the hardest decision they have ever made.

Dear Heaven, they made this one too easy ...

Coach texts players & staff: "team meeting in an hour. Everybody be there."

Coach: "Okay, are we all here? Great. Before we get started, what time is it? 5 minutes past the hour, good. Let me just set this here, alright. So, I know a lot of you have been hearing rumors about my leaving. And I just wanted to tell you, they are all true. But, it's not you, it's me. You guys know I would never abandon you. Because that's not what this is about. ... hmm ... let me check my notes here. Oh, yes. It's not about the money, either. You know I Love all of you like a family. But sometimes families have to go in different directions. And, right now, I feel it is just right for me and my family ... but not you family, my real family ... to take the best opportunity for us, as a family ... without this family. Does that make sense? Anyhow, I'd like to open up the floor to any of you, should you have any questions, that I may help clarif ... ..." {*beep, beep, beep*}

"Oh, sorry. I guess that's been two minutes. Well, I guess you all understand what I was trying to say. So, if you have any concerns or questions. Just remember. I'm not abandoning you. I'm simply leaving for another job, where I won't be involved with your futures anymore. Any other concerns can be taken up with -- Assistant Head Coach's Name Here -- . It was nice to be apart of your early football careers. Remember, I'm not abandoning you. Because I Love you all. And I Love this University, too. Just, not as much as I Love the school I'm leaving for. But, I'm leaving for the school, not the money. Now I have to go see a moving guy, about an unrelated issue. Love you all ... oh, and by the way. This was the hardest decision I've ever had to make."

“As we have said many times, the student athlete is our number one priority,” Hightower said.

Sure it is ...

That's why they all want $100 million for ten years upfront, and to reiterate his own words ---

“This way coaches and schools can avoid a virulent strain of Excessive Wealth Disorder,” Hightower said. “They can simply say they are following the rules.”

In the future, a coach will not be required to give fact-based answers when questioned by the press about if he is interested in another job. The guidelines state that if such circumstance arises, a coach may say “no,” and the definition of “no” shall mean “no” unless it means “yes.”

Oh, for Pete's sake ...

No means "Yes", and "No".

In other words, always answer No.

Ah, ambiguity.

I suggest, not trying this with your date, however. Unless No really means Yes.

Never mind ... Just don't ask. Then there is no answer. Which likely means there already is an answer. But apparently, only Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, Brett McMurphy of ESPN and Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports have the answer ... and even more so apparent than that, the answer is; Luke Fickell, Matt Campbell and Mario Cristobal.

Even when that is not really the answer.

[check]

(A subsection of that guideline also permits a coach to personally berate any reporter who poses the question.)

Because, of course it does ...

Remember, though ---

“As we have said many times, the student athlete is our number one priority,” Hightower said.

and

“They can simply say they are following the rules.”

[check]

Hightower said special attention was given to the many benefits that a college football coach may receive as an enticement to change jobs. “This has gotten out of control,” said Hightower, citing the report that new USC coach Lincoln Riley will have access to a private jet for him and his family 24/7.

“We really felt we needed to make a statement here,” Hightower said. “A private plane flight must be scheduled at least two-hours in advance and no more than six family members may fly at any one time.”

However ...

So long as that 2 hours notice is given; (a.) the plane can go back and pick up 6 more family memembers --- (b.) 2 hours later, the family can fly back, or elsewhere. As well as 2 hours after that, and 2 hours after that.

This is all okay.

Because we all know that family trips where a flight in a private plane are required, are organized in merely 2 hours.

[check]

Finally, the guidelines address the thorny issue of buyouts. “Going forward, schools will be required to pay the buyout at least two years before the coach is fired,” he said. “That way both the schools and the coaches can avoid any additional embarrassment when a coach is dismissed.”

This is redundant ...

You're getting a base salary of $10 million a year, so, you are giving a guy $20 million on the way out, 2 years before you may or may not want to get rid of him.

But ---

“As we have said many times, the student athlete is our number one priority,” Hightower said.

[check]

There are critics of the new guidelines, with some suggesting they are excessively generous and too deferential to coaches.

Gee, you don't say ...

And by "some suggesting", they mean literally everyone who reads it.

Except of course, for the Federation of membership Coaches, and their family members ...

But not the players as family or supporting coaching staff. I mean actual family members.

Also, Pete Thamel, Brett McMurphy and Dennis Dodd ...

However, if you voice your concerns about it, I'm sure you'll here about that in Yahoo Sports, ESPN and CBS Sports, with an "unbiased" and "fair" portrayal .

Though you won't come out looking like the "good guy", just for posing a query.

Because ---

“As we have said many times, the student athlete is our number one priority,” Hightower said.

[check]

Hightower pushed back on the criticism, adding that several recommendations were rejected for those very reasons.

“For example, on a narrow vote we defeated a proposal that required all staff at football facilities to avoid direct eye contact with the head coach, and we tabled a motion that would have redirected low-income student scholarship money toward a fund to pay for a statue of the head coach,” he said.

And somehow he thought this makes them look amenable ...

A narrow vote prevents lower paid staff members from having to look the Head Coach directly in the eyes ... which means, the Head Coach also doesn't have to look them directly in the eyes, when being talked to.

And if you read the wordage, as they mean everything in literal context as written, to cover loopholes; it states that "All staff at football facilities."

Two things here. "At" being "At The Time" or "At The Place Of Time". So, when addressed, "Not At" football facilities, does this "Not" apply? Then the word "All" as in "Every". "Not all staff have to look the Head Coach in the eyes", "At" the football facility. Though, "Some" is not "All". Which could translate to, "Some" "Staff" "At the football facilities" may still have to maintain direct eye contact with the Head Coach, as long as it were "Some" staff member, not "All" staff members required to do so.

These things seem easily open to interpretation.

Not that they would leave any such open to suggestion language which could be misconstrued as something that doesn't mean want it seems.

That is, unless the answer is Yes. In which the answer is therein No.

Then they tabled a motion {meaning not yet to be covered in conversation} that would have pilfered the coffers from low-income students potential scholarship funding {the students who really need this sort of financial assistance}, to fund Erecting Engraven Idols of Worship in Thine Own Image and Visage.

Let's not forget ---

“As we have said many times, the student athlete is our number one priority,” Hightower said.

[check]

Hightower added that coaching college football is an honored profession, one where the health and welfare of the student athlete is paramount, and the integrity of the institution must be protected.”

It should be ...

And yet, other than merely anecdotal mentioning of Student Athletes, all while protecting the coaches, was the entire content there within the conversation.

“We believe these guidelines demonstrate exactly where are priorities lie.”

He's right about that ...

And it is anywhere other than the within interest of the Student Athletes.

Good Lordy!!

I haven't felt that invigorate over a Topic in quite some time.

Made me feel wax nostalgic, almost. As if I were responding to the banter from the old board, back in the day.

Jee-zus, that was compulsive.

How far down the page did you get before you started losing it?

Just curious.

How many times are you gonna reread it

I have twice already myself ...

Wait, does that make me a narcissist?

Well, if it does, then I guess I fit right in there with the morons who came up with this self righteous virtue signal of a manifesto.

Hoppy is a radio talk show host here in Wild and Wonderful……. and he, like many of us, has had just about all they take from these power brokers who have put College Football on the auction block.
And I can assure you Hoppy, like many in Wild and Wonderful West by god Virginia are feed-up the doings of the likes of Greg Sankey, Texas and Oklahoma. 8) 8) 8)
