So, I get the want of incentivizing winning your Conference Championship ...
But, I do not like the idea of giving a bye to any team, forcing non-traditional Power Conference Champions to play a 14th game, before they play against a rested Power5 Champ in the 2cnd Round.
Since they are expanding, like we all knew they would; it should be either 8 or 16.
You could still incentivize winning a Championship game, by prioritizing the Top 4, and being paired vs a softer 5 to 8 / 9 to 12.

I agree, let the champ be determined on the field, and not some concoction driven by TV Ratings.
