In The Midsts of the Disparaging ...

Postby Cane from the Bend » Thu Oct 27, 2022 9:49 pm

--------------------------------------------------------------

Then suddenly, Miami is boosted ...

Cormani McClain, the #2 overall recruit & #1 CB in the 2023 class, announces his commitment to the University of Miami :!:

247Sports Player Evaluation: "A new-age cornerback prospect that has a chance to be a difference maker at football's highest levels given his rare blend of size, length and speed. Started prep career off playing primarily wide receiver before being thrust into action on the defensive side of the ball. Excelled right away as a perimeter defender against top Sunshine State competition picking off nine passes as a sophomore and 10 more as a junior."

12 Hours Ago, his Three Final Schools were Listed as:
[percentages listed as 247 Crystal Ball projections]

Florida : 100%
Alabama : o.o%
Miami : o.o%

Boy, lemme tell you, there are some Reptile Tears tonight!

This confirms a lot of what I've been hearing as of late, from both 2023 & 2024 recruits.

They are not signing up for what Miami currently is. They are committing to what they see Miami can be.

Here's a decent interview with a couple of guys, that give you an idea of the mindset in recruits perspective with Miami:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq9lLQjD5qw

Jump to 7:49 for the first guy [a 2024 recruit]
Jump to 34:02 for the second [2023 Preferred Walk-on Offer]

The second kid gives a good sense for how things are with the present environment in Miami recruiting.

And this has been what the observation entails.

Miami fans are restless. Yet, insta success isn't always going to happen. The present state of things needs to be cleansed. Maybe the best example of that, is Florida State.

What Norvell has done, is pretty remarkable. Some nole fans were calling for his head. Those same people are laughing, today, at Miami fans. Making cracks about how bad our team is and that we hired Mario for $9 million a year to lose ... blah, blah, blah

Amazing, how a season ago, they were enraged at how bad things were for themselves. Now, they are feeling a bit braggadocios, despite their 3 straight losses.

Not every team will have a turnaround at the flip of a switch.

Duke is an exception.

USC is a bad measuring stick, since they already had a roster that was built for success, and Riley brought in some of his key players from Oklahoma alongside him, through the portal.

In Miami's case, we may need one, if not two buffer years.

Once the players who are on the roster are "Bought In', as so well put by the second kid in that link, the U can build their way back.

And, according to him, Miami is looking appealing to this year's current class.

Cormani McClain's commitment, tonight, shows these kids aren't signing on for what Miami is Today. Rather, what they believe Miami can become, with them.

Stars count...

But then...Texas A&M has a record setting class last year...and they are chalking this season up as a lost season.

And Tyler Van Dyke (Rivals #8 quarterback in his class) may not be a world beater. Travis at FSU was a three star....not great, but adequate.

And...the transfer portal stands the whole recruiting class thing on its head.

You don't know what you have until after the first game.
