"The University of Michigan has been found in violation of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy for conducting an impermissible, in-person scouting operation over multiple years, resulting in an unfair competitive advantage that compromised the integrity of competition," the conference wrote in a statement.

"Big Ten Conference Agreement 10.01 states in part that 'The Big Ten Conference expects all contests involving a member institution to be conducted without compromise to any fundamental element of sportsmanship. Such fundamental elements include integrity of the competition, civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials.'"

They filed an injunction tonight. This is starting to look really bad for the skunk bears. T

I’m glad to see that somebody in college football has finally stood their ground……. Good on the BIGTEN.

For too long now the game has been bullied and bought, Hell’s Fire…… just a day or so I read an article about the expansion of the CFP where one of the committee members was advocating for conference champs in the Group of Five, or whatever it’s called now, to be an automatic qualifier for a spot. He was shouted down by none other than Greg Sankey. Why would Sankey care, one might ask…….. because the TV guys told him to.

They’ve sold the game…….. and now they’re after the integrity of the game. And yeah, you darn right I’m pissed about it.

Whew……. That felt good. I know I’m out of step in today’s environment, but I grew up during the time of Jim McCay when sport was more about “the human drama of athletic competition”, and not TV Viewers.

Big difference between the best G5 teams and the top third of the P4...

Take JMU...undefeated...but the only P4 that they have played on their schedule was gawd awful Virginia...#13 in the ACC standings...and JMU beat them by 1 point.

The SEC teams that aren't Georgia (who is favored for conference champ)...LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee...would beat JMU.

The question has always been...should the best teams play for the national championship...or should it be more socialistic..giving the appearance that anyone can win regardless of conference or strength of schedule ?

I think if they are going to be part of the process there should be a pathway to a championship. If they can’t be part of it, they shouldn’t be part of the same league.
The best teams is completely subjective, but I get the point, most G5 teams aren’t going to make it through the gauntlet of a P4 schedule. It would be rare if it happened.

Everyone’s points and positions are right, or maybe better said would be they’re not wrong. But there’s no denying it’s all about the money and to me that’s a red flag.
The TV guys what programming and are willing to pay for it, while the conferences want shares of that money for distribution to their conference members…….. more conference members participating equals more shares, and nowadays conferences are carrying as many as 16 members, and many of those members within a conference simply just are not going to make it to the CFP bracket, but receive portions share(s) their conference receive. That’s what’s driving guys like Greg Sankey, and others, to take the positions they do……… 8)

It is alway about money, but the NCAA tournament in basketball has a clear path for everyone. If a team makes it to the tournament and they are the worse rated team in it, they can win it all by not losing. No team like this has or probably will every win. But there is a path. That means it it fair. If you are a FBS football team and you are not from a power conference, you have no path to a championship.

The NCAA basketball tournament sells hope and early Cinderella matches...

No team from the second half of seeding...seeds 9-16 have any chance of wonning the championship..and none have (odds of 0 %)...the odds of a 9-16 to reach the Final Four are 0.7 %. THe Finals match..0 %.

It is lunacy to believe there "is a path"...well, technically there may be a path...just like I could walk from Key West to Havana if I could walk on water.

Football has a much more important regular season then basketball...almost evet weekend there is a elimination game....lose two games and you are out...lose one game and you might be (like FSU...they must beat Florida or they're out)

The playoff starts in week 1...

Liberty is 10-0 with a schedule strength of 133...think that they should play over a one loss team like Louisville with an SOS of 66 ? Or one loss Texas with an SOS of 8.

Or a pne loss Ohio State or Michigan ?

Oh I know what chance the Cinderella's have, but they control their destiny. In Football they have no destiny. And yes, if they win their conference and are eligible for a playoff, they should be in it. Or they shouldn't be eligible. I have no issue either way, but they shouldn't part of something where they really don't have a part.

They have no destiny in basketball....you just buy into the illusion.

Data is data...and the data says that they have zero chance....we just like the Horatio Alger story...it could happen, someday, maybe, if I lit a candle to St. Jude...

They control zippo...or we would have a seed 9-16 with a statistical chance to win...

The NCAA Tourney has been won by one of the top three seeds 89% of the time (over past 38 years)...

...the seeds 9-16 are just there for padding and the draw of the Cinderella story that we all love.
