I went into this game thinking FSU had the best DB's Miami was likely to face ...

Someone told me that I should watch the SMU game where FSU got burnt. The thing is, SMU was playing their first ACC game, First ever game as a Power Conference Opponent and doing so at Home in front of a sold out crowd.

The Mustangs had something to prove to the world, and they took it all out on the Seminoles.

Also, there is something called development. Unfortunately for FSU the DB's really are the only noticeably developed unit on the team. The D-Line is improved, a little. However, they got gashed up the middle by Miami. Though, I would have liked to have seen Mario call more draw plays and take advantage of what was there. I know the need to get your play makers into it. But if we had wore down the Defensive middle more, than they wouldn't have had the energy to sack Cam 4 times. Especially seeing as how Damien Martinez ran for 148 yards and 2 TD's, which was the second-most by any Miami rusher in the rivalry series; Stephen McGuire ran for 176 yards, back in 1990.

The `noles did what I figured they could. The DB's kept the `Canes receivers from getting across the goal. I did expect this game to be closer. As a `Canes fan, I've been suffering FSU PTSD and always assume the worst will happen. Which is why I stayed otherwise quite up to this point.

Cam Ward ... ... ... did not throw for a single Touchdown in this game ... ... ... he did get his TD, as a receiver. That was fun. Might've been the most exciting play of the night, for me.

Despite my appearance for lack of enthusiasm [I feel more relieved that we won than anything], the game wasn't as bad Offensively as it felt. We did win 36-14, after all. FSU's last score was with merely 18 seconds left in the game. Miami had 445 yards, 4 TD's and 3 FG's ----------> No Turnovers

The line was Miami by 21.5 which we covered. So, overall, a solid victory against a rival who has a tendency to make the improbable happen whenever they face us, time and again.

The win tonight gives Miami the State Championship, having beaten both of the other major Florida competitors.
[sorry UCF; you just haven't earned the big boy spot at the table yet]

As for Florida State; they may get the win vs Carolina, if they lock down the Tar Heels WR's next Saturday.

I know UNC did finally look like the team they were supposed to be, coming into the season, today. But, it was the biggest rivalry they have versus Virginia. And the Cavs beat North Carolina last season, turning things around for themselves.

It'll be fun to see how well the `noles fair against them.

As for the U ... moving on into former coaches territory, here.

Gotta face Duke. I'm not sure if it was SMU exposing the Blue Devils' formula on how to beat them, or if Manny simply Diaz'd the victory away. His play calling there at the end was truly suspect.

This next one does feel like the last hurdle before we stride to the ACC Title game.

Both of those games are on this week's predictions.
