Who's Recruiting On the Mountaintop ..?

Postby Cane from the Bend » Fri Jun 20, 2025 2:03 pm

-----------------------------------------------------------

Things seem quiet in Morgantown ...

I'm trying to keep up with recruiting with our teams, and WVU seems to have hit a Lull.

Most notable Commit I can currently find is ⭐⭐⭐ Safety Emory Snyder out of Bixby, OK.

This kid maybe better than touted. And he's got some range to him, standing at 6 ft. 4 in.

Outside of that, West Va looks as though they've gone portal shopping to fill the space.

Since May, the Eers have been adding players to bulk the roster before they look to trim personnel.

Up to 114 currently accounted for. They have 75 remaining eligible from last season, with 39 incoming for the summer.

They'll need to reduce their active list to 105 when Summer Training Camps end.

Here are the new arrivals from May to June:

Offense

Mickel Clay - OT / Transfer from North Alabama
Josh Aisosa - OL / Transfer from Oklahoma
Malik Agbo - OL / Transfer from Texas
Carson Lee - OL / Transfer from Mississippi State
Ayden Bussell - OL / Transfer from Tennessee
Donovan Haslam - OL / Transfer from Austin Peay
Grayson Barnes - TE / Transfer from Northern Illinois
Ryan Ward - TE / Transfer from North Carolina
Jaylan Knighton - RB / Transfer from SMU
Kannon Katzer - RB / Transfer from Ferris State
Cyncir Bowers - RB / JUCO Transfer
Christian Hamilton - WR / Transfer from North Carolina
Justin Smith-Brown - WR / Transfer from South Carolina State
Jordan McCants - WR / Transfer from Jacksonville State
Logan Ramper - WR / Transfer from Slippery Rock

Defense

Elijah Simmons - DL / JUCO Transfer
Eddie Kelly Jr. - OLB [Edge Rusher] / Transfer from Missouri
Ben Bogle - LB / Transfer from Southern Illinois
John Lewis - LB / Transfer from Mississippi State
Nick Taylor - CB / Transfer from Appalachian State
Darrian Lewis - CB / Transfer from Akron
Ty Crutcher - CB / Transfer from West Florida
Kaleb Gray - DB / JUCO Transfer

Special Teams

Kade Hensley - K / Transfer from Coastal Carolina

-----------------------------------------------------------

I see a lot of beef up front, Offensively. The pickup of Jaylan Knighton from SMU is a big one. Many `Canes fans were a bit taken off guard when he Transferred out to go to SMU.

Not gonna lie, kinda glad that we wont have to defend against him when we play the Mustangs on November 1rst.

The O-Line pickup out of Texas, Malik Agbo, is a good one, too. He's still got 4 years of eligibility left.

What do you think, Mountainman?

Were the right needs addressed?

Are you comfortable with the coach relying so heavily on the portal? Or would you prefer to see a stronger emphasis on High School recruitment?

Yep, LOTS of turnover…….

There’s a COMPLETE overhaul of the program going on in Morgantown…… Players, Coaches and Staff.

Rich Rod’s 30 Stack Defense and Spread Option Offense are a different beast. He’s hired a number of former players as coaches to teach.

During a presser a couple of days ago Rodriguez acknowledged ‘it’ll take a while’ but he will get back to recruiting players coming out of high school.

My two cents worth…….. he’s right.
