This game against Washington really puts things in perspective. Boise State has a lot of work to do. They have a hard time on the road.

Yeah, welcome!
While I agree, I think they have everything in place besides a QB. Kind of like TCU. This doesn't look like the year of the non-BCS team, but Hawaii can certainly go to the BCS. They won't though if they play like they did against Louisiana Tech when they take on Nevada and SJSU.

Welcome heritage. Boise State was the one who handed out a few reality checks last year. This is a new year. It could be that Washington is better then people think and Boise State is having a rebuilding year. A reality check is when a team is over-rated and so far that hasn't been the case with Boise State. Last year or this year.

I this that is true. Washington made a lot of mistakes Saturday...Boise State made more. In the end, it is Washington is a big school with depth in the interior lines...where the games are fought and won and the depth..fresh bodies just wins out with bigger schools. Boise State will be all right. I think they may win the WAC again...Hawaii has some real issues that they live with...travel is one of them....
Have tickets for the game Saturday between Washington and Ohio State....will report....too bad I am not ace reporter.....Washington is acting like this is the Rose Bowl...well..maybe it is. This will be a tell tale game for both.

Everytime Ohio State goes on the road teams treat it as the Rose Bowl. In reality, Ohio State is a very beatable team. They have a pretty good defense and a horrible offensive line. Ohio State is very young on both lines and even the Dline won't play good teams the way they have played the first couple of games. It is going to be very hard for Ohio State to win this game. I said before the season that I thought Ohio State would play themselves out of the T25 in November, but it may happen all at once this weekend. If they drop out they aren't likely to play themselves back into it.
Donovan, I have a couple of friends who are going to the game. It is the yearly road trip. I have to have some tests ran and I am not going to make this trip. My mother and father-in-law went out to seattle a couple of years ago and loved it. I wish I could make the trip.

Boise State beat Wyoming at Home...watch the last quarter on the computer.........game was not as close as the score...21 to 14. Just thought I would mention it as with one loss Boise has dropped off the earth to most folks...but I will keep the fire burning...because..there will be a lot of one loss teams this year..............love the blue turf.

Not many teams fall off the face of the CFB world for me. I try to keep up with all of them. Every team wants to go undefeated and compete for a championship, but ultimately every teams goal has to be what they have control over. That would be winning their conference. Everything else is secondary.

Actually, Boise State only has a hard time on the road when they have to play teams from BCS conferences. I do believe their conference road records over the last few years is pretty good. Boise State does have 50 straight home wind against non-BCS teams. The reality is that Boise State has a difficult time getting BCS schools to play them on the blue turf.
As far as the Washington game is concerned, I wouldn't put all the blame on Taylor Tharp. He did throw 3 INTs but a TD pass was dropped late in the fourth quarter that would have made the game very interesting. Ian Johnson didn't have a great game, and the offensive line made lots of mistakes. Tharp did better against Washington than Jared Zabransky did against Georgia 2 years back.
It was a surprise that Boise State lost to Washington, but I think most Boise State fans knew that this version of Boise State was not going to be a top ten team this year. Most college football fans were treating Hawaii as the favorite to win the WAC even before Boise State lost to Washington.

Boise has switched empahsis this year. They are a running team. No long bombs, no risk taking...pretty conservative. Tharp is a Senior...they have some good young backups and not sure why Peterson is not going with them...problem is not Tharp...You will not see the high scoring this year from Boise....but they should chalk up W's . They have a good line, good defense. They should be OK in the WAC. Hawaii will not go undefeated.....to many holes for a defense that makes assignments...........

I agree. Teams like Boise State and TCU, teams with good defenses, are the key to busting the BCS. Whether it is a BCS conference team or a non BCS conference team a team with a good defense can usually slow down a great offense and give themselves a chance to win. Teams that don't play, at least decent defense to go with a great offense will hit a wall at some point.
No matter how many teams incorporate high flying offenses, if they don't play defense, they aren't going to make it to the end. It will always come down to being able to run the ball and being able to play defense. That is why a team like Hawaii will probably never go undefeated. Offenses tend to stall at times, good defensive teams will always play to their talent level.
