If we do not learn from the past, history will repeat itself, WVU's learning curve is dependent on players and not the team.

USF....They need the win more...to get credibility over last year. 43-21 USF

I'm pulling for USF. Only because they're letting me in the press box for the game. =]

Everyone should expect a nice post-game editorial on CFP when Dave Congrove and myself get back.

I disagree. I saw West Virginia's game Saturday. The West Virginia defense was playing with great effort and flying around to the ball. They were playing motivated football. They were not relying on the offense to pick them up. It is the best I have seen West Virginia's defense play in a couple of years. They were part of a team. The West Virginia offense was spreading the ball around. Not just late, but from the begining. The offensive line was blowing people off the ball. I saw a total team effort and not a two trick pony type act.

South Florida will be the toughest defense West Virginia has faced so far. They will be confident and ready to play ball. West Virginia will be motivated to avenge last years loss. I think West Virginia is going to win and win convincingly and that isn't taking South Florida lightly, I think West Virginia is just very, very good.

I'm not writing the article. I'm just taking the pictures. Dave is writing the article and he, honestly, couldn't care less who wins. Well, actually, he wants whoever the Computer picks to win, lol.

Barring an unforseen circumstance,or WVU not taking the game seriously, WVU should run with this one. (Literally and figuratively) 8)
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

BlackpowderEer and Spence gave many of my reasons why. (Truncated-Many players healthier than WVU had last year, WVU's defense last week (in a ramp up NOT a shock) looks somewhere between 50 to 100% better than last year.)

*If you didn't see it, East Carolina had negative yardage rushing the ball until the 2nd and 3rd string was in.

*WVU already has more sacks than all of last year.

And as mentioned WVU will not be surprised.

WVU's biggest weapon (absolutely incredible this week) nobody seems to talk much about...the receivers, man for man the best blocking receivers I've ever seen in college.

WVU is deeper (at least at the "skill" positions) than they have ever been.

It is a revenge game!

RIch still hasn't shown the whole offense he has more than a few wrinkles they haven't seen and you might get to see a new formation this week!

The Bulls went 9-19 on 3rd down against that Powder House (powder blue) UNC. I think Da-Voo pushes that to the 5-12 region.

WVU is more mature and the focus of the entire team has greatly improved. (Witness Special Teams, Defense, WR blocking, and the patience of the backs for the zone and down field blocking...generally points to focus and maturity.)

WVU jumps on these Bulls early and often. Recall the first half of the Georgia game, recall the second half of the Georgia Tech game. Well since Georgia doesn't have anybody else left to smack around they'll just have to beat up there neighbors to the South. And I think they play to pound for 4 quarters...well at least 3 and they can shut it down.

1st Quarter

17 3 "Dang them Hill-Billies are faaaassssttt!"
2nd
27 10 "Gee George it is hot, so very hot!" :(
3rd
41 13 "I.....Can...Ha....ard...ly Breathe."
4th

USF has the opportunity to play for the conference this year. I don't think this game will be that one sided.

But, what I do think, is that West Va wins this game.

The Mountaineers can make this an impressive win, if they stun the Bulls early enough.

I mean, really shut `um down with their defense, and score quickly on their first 2 or 3 possessions.

That might throw So Florida off their game, and put them into disparity (remember how lopsided West Va's win over Va Tech was a couple of years ago... and the Hokies never squared themselves & got hammered).

If the Bulls settle themselves, and show up early, the mountainmen are gonna have a fight on their hands. I'm talking about a Kentucky putting the game away with a seal the deal late TD going up by 2 possessions with 2 1/2 mins left in the 4th quarter type of win.

I figure the Mountaineers will win either way. If it's close, chances are the D buckles down, gaining a turnover deep in South FL territory. Giving White great field position to put up the finisher.

WVU should win...but, WVU has not had their way with teams that have a good defense.

WVU, last year, played three teams with a defense ranked top 30 in Total Defense...the Eers lost one and won the other two games by a total of five points.

If USF plays disciplined, position responsibility defense, they can keep this game close and have a shot at winning.

So winning 2/3 of your games against good defenses is not having your way? In that case, I like West Virginia's chances :) .

USF's speedy defense will keep it somewhat close, but I like West Virginia in this one. Too much offense to be shut down again against the Bulls. And the defense has been improved.

I really want to see both sides of the ball on 3rd down. More intriguing than usual to me for this game.

Didn't the Bulls beat the Mountainers last year in West Virginia? I think the crowd will be crazy in Florida. They were reporting that people began camping out for tickets on Tuesaday for this game. If the Bulls can jump out to an early lead I think they can pull off the upset again. If West Virginia can calm the crowd down early then White, Slaton, and company will pull off a close win. I picked South Florida in this one....I guess since it is in their home stadium.
