What's hurting Boise State?

A lack of quality opponents. They get used to playing a weak schedule. They get used to winning. They lose their hunger. They get beat by middle of the road teams like Washington and ECU. It"s not all their fault. They can"t help that they are in the WAC. Some WAC teams are good. Over half are not. Boise State needs to start scheduling better teams and then prepare.

I do think Boise State expected to beat ECU last night but the woke up in the second half and found out that they couldn't. It was too late.

I think if they had played like they had in the second half starting in the second quarter, they would have won that game. They didn't deserve to win playing as poorly as they did.

The problem is though, if they played 3 or 4 good teams they would not wind up 10-2 or 11-1 most years, and would probably be ranked lower at the end of the year. They would be a good addition to the Pac 10, but 11 teams is a terrible number of teams for a conference. (See the Big 10) If the Pac 10 decided to expand to 12 teams and two divisions, like most of college football, Utah and Boise St would be two good additions. I don't see that happening as the Pac 10 is similar to the Big 10 in their thinking and do not wish to conform to todays landscape of college football with conference championship games, etc.

I remember when Penn St was an independent and had complete control over their football schedule. They went through most seasons with only 1 or 2 losses. Joining the Big 10 has made them not nearly as competitive. After further review, maybe Boise St should stay with the status quo.

Did anyone pick Boise to lose that game?? I know I didn't.

I would be willing to bet that the line on the ga/hawaii game just went up a lot.

No one had Boise St to lose, but about 3 or 4 had the confidence points under 20. That was like winning. Personally, I had my confidence points at 32.
