Mountain West/Sun Belt

Postby Eric » Tue Jul 04, 2006 4:20 pm

Like last summer, I'll knock out 2 conferences at once. Here it goes:

MWC:
Best Player: Lynell Hamilton (RB, San Diego State)
Bust Player: QB Kole McKamey
Best Team: TCU
Bust Team: Colorado State
Sleeper Team: UNLV
URP: Rocky Hinds (QB, UNLV <<<USC transfer)
MIG: TCU @ Utah 10-5
Champion: Utah

Best Player: Jamario Thomas (RB, UNT)
Bust Player: Well, no Sun Belt player has real expectations! lol
Best Team: North Texas
Bust Team: UL Lafayette
Sleeper Team: Florida International, maybe Troy too
URP: Keynovis Bouie (LB, FIU)<<<<last year's pick, this year again because no real attention until the NFL combines
MIG: North Texas @ Troy 10-28
Winner: North Texas.....again
Running bowl/MSU/OSU record '05-present: 11-32

I like your assessment, overall, but how does TCU lose to Utah? I hope you're wrong.
I agree the Sun Belt likely will come down to those two teams.
I'm not predicting a 'bust' team for the Sun Belt, they are already at a disadvantage, but 'sleeper' I think is FAU. I think Don Strock is their coach, and they were respectable, end-of-year.
N. Texas is their 'bread-and-butter' but they sure were disappointing last year. I don't think that will happen two consecutive years.
'sleeper' team, MWC? I think San Diego St, could be dangerous.

Utah is a really good football team; I think the game will be very tight as they are neck and neck with eachother. Utah will be improved since last season too.

Don Strock is the head coach at Florida International, my sleeper. So, are you picking Florida Atlantic or Florida International as your sleeper?

When I saw the title of the thread, I thought you were talking about eliminating a couple of conferences. I did agree with your choices!
