He does everything possible to act the churlish, disrespectful kiddie coach.

The drive by, flit my hand at ya as I pass routine, is unbecoming to a young coach who was meeting a senior coach at midfield. Kiffin might as well have never left his side of the field.

Yeah, Kiffin is the epitome of a sore loser and a jerk. The guy just doesn't know how to accept defeat gracefully. I never understood why outlets like ESPN get attached to people who haven't proven anything. Lane Kiffin is one of those people, he was a failure in the NFL (but to be fair, many would be at Oakland) and so far he's not looking all that at Tennessee. I think he like Wannstedt will probably have the type of recruits to crank out 9-3 seasons every so often, but they're never going to become an Alabama or a Florida as far as in-conference success.

Beamer should have busted him in the chops when he walked by. Kiffen should take the time to talk to Frank Beamer, he may actually learn something about being a head coach.

And this is why Kiffin will never be a successful coach. He's a punk jerk.

He might have a winning season .500 wise...but he will never be respected or emulated. Don't think his attitude won't play into the votes for the polls....when a toss up is required for a #2 or #3 vote...don't expect Kiffin to get the benefit of the doubt.

Around the Net you can find many comments on Meyer not even looking at Saban and pulling a fly-by...I couldn't remember. But nothing on Tebow!

Maybe its a current SEC thing...but it is sad to see.

In a different time, even the legendary rivals, Bear and Shug were cordial. Bobby and Spurrier didn't like each other, but they were gentlemen at midfield.

Southern coaches like Bear, Shug, Pie Vann, Bowden, Neyland, Dye...all were fierce in competition and hated losing but they were not jerks when they lost.

Although it is lost in today's rivalries, Alabama and Tennessee with the Bear and Neyland at the helms was a humdinger (I saw one meeting between these two in Knoxville). Yet you have to listen to Bear Bryant to get an idea of the times and the men...The great Bear Bryant said..."People think I'm the greatest darn coach in the world. But Neyland taught me everything I know."

Greatness was tinged with some humility.

Unfortunately what you have described reflects our entire society...civility is lost to the greatest extent. But maybe not always....I went to the grocery store the other day and this young man was getting a cart before me and took that cart and gave it to me and said, "Here, I think this one has really good wheels on it." Maybe there is hope.

PS....A lot of people think those are grocery carts...I look at them as sub rosa walkers.

My mom had a big stroke followed by a heart attack and a pace maker a few years ago and she really appreciates a good grocery cart to get around the store.

I think the lack of civility is directly related to peoples attitude that the government needs to help people.

The video kept running over and over, but I still didn't see anything that stood out. What are we doing now, timing how long a handshake lasts to evaluate a coach? Maybe it was not a love fest, but I have seen handshakes that turned into verbal sparring in both college basketball and football. Didn't anyone put up a video showing the handshake after the USC-Stanford game?
