Ouchiee...that has to hurt them. Bomar is their starter and really came on last season....I think that this tips the balance in the Big 12 towards Texas this year...as if they needed it.

Wow, seriously, wow. Will the NCAA sanction them also? Usually when teams report themselves they still get sanctioned, well, unless they are USC anyway. Now Texas and OU have kicked guys off the team that were supposed to be stars. At least they know that they can't sweep it under the rug. Mack Brown and Bob Stoops will coach at their respective schools forever as long as they don't tolerate that stuff that causes scandal. Good for Stoops, and what a fricking idiot move, Bomar! Any chance AP is the other guy kicked off the team?

Well, OU losing an offensive lineman is the next best thing to AP being gone. OU is still going to be really good as long as they have Petersen.

Marshall University reported like or similar incidents to the NCAA and got sanctioned big time. Scholarship losses (13 each year if I recall correctly) for two or maybe it was three years. That really hurt the program.

If these things are indeed true, I hate the players got caught up in it, I regret any negative impact it will have on their teammates and the Sooner program, but I have all the respect I can muster for Bob Stoops for what he said about it.

I can't see too many people picking them to win the title now. I'm one of those.

This is just too much of a blow, to maybe even shoot for the BCS. This team was so experienced, but how will they fare without the starting QB? It might make for a very difficult transition.

It is a shame that that kid was so selfish. He not only ruined his future, he hurt his team. The booster responsible for this also really hurt the school and the team. The fact that he was kicked off the team means that it was too much money for him to pay back. Typically the NCAA suspends the player 2 games per offense.

Oklahoma won't get sanctioned. They uncovered the problem and turned themselves in to the NCAA. As long as the school doesn't know or try to cover it up when they find out they are in the clear.

I was thinking that Oklahoma would be around #3 in the preseason poll, now it is going to be tough for them. This makes them one dimensional again unless they have someone ready to step in, which I don't think is the case.

Props to Stoops and Oklahoma for doing the right thing, though. It at least gives the kids who didn't cheat a fair shot at playing the game.

Yeah, what annoys me about stuff like this is "perefferal treatment". At least we know Stoops and his staff holds everyone to the same standard.

It will hurt him. Whenever everyone knows what is going to come it isn't hard to stop. Even with a talent like Peterson. He is the person hurt most by Bomar's actions.

Joey Halzle is the guy waiting in the wings now. He sounds like a pretty decent quarterback, he might get the job done and the Sooners to a 8 or 9 win season. I think 9 will be the ceiling for this team without Bomar. I was expecting Bomar to be above average this year and the guy with just enough stuff to get the Sooners to the title game. Remember Paul Thompson, he could be back in the mix in Norman.

I hope it's just rumors. I believe there were some rumors going around Oklahoma about this kind of thing, but I can't verify it. I wouldn't worry about it, irish88.

As much as it kills me to say this, without any passing game, A.P. isn't going to winning a Heisman this year......which means............ :( ...............Brady............um..........Quinn will win the Heisman tropy

:( :( :( :(

there was a story at the end of june about brady quinn and some other seniors from notre dame being booted for hiring an agent. anyone else hear about this ?? the story even said it was coach weis' doing . thankfully, i haven't heard anything else about this.

I heard about it. Weis didn't do anything wrong. He had his probable NFL players pick a short list of agents to represent them. It isn't an NCAA violation unless they narrow their list to one. (choosing an agent) Players are allowed to talk to agents, they just can't sign or take money from them. Weis was just trying to eliminate a distraction before the season starts.

I have always liked and respected Bob Stoops. The more I read about him the more it enhances my opinion of him. I like his guts. It is no wonder that he has succeeded in turning Oklahoma back into a household name.

I think he's a little arrogant sometimes, but that could be a good thing.
