For any of those who have Dish Network, just a little heads up: Fox Sports programming has been pulled from the service. I pressed info to see what the deal was, and Dish said it was because of an "outrageous" rate increase.

Great, now I don't get the Tigers or any college football games that Fox broadcasts. Perfect timing too!

That is why they did it now. So people would call Dish and complain and Dish will relent.

DTV will have the same problems, we had the same with Time Warner. It is Fox using sports as leverage.

Dish Network is using them as leverage as well. They put the Fox phone number on the info screen too and prompted them to call Fox Sports. Both parties are trying to get as much out of the other as they can. As a libertarian, I'm perfectly okay with that too

I can be hypocritical and angry that I'm losing my games in the process though

I agree. It still sucks.

I have had Directv for a long time. I have the Sports package, which includes the Fox channels and also the Gameplan. If Fox channels go away, the games are on Gameplan, but not in HD. I am watching Ole Miss vs Ky on MSGHD. Most of Gameplan is a waste, except I got a couple of early Razorback games that I would not have seen without Gameplan.

I switched once to Dish as they said they would give me 4 receivers at no charge. At the time I only had 2 receivers with Directv. They also told me that they would have the NFL Sunday Ticket. When the Sunday Ticket was not available, I canceled Dish and have been with Directv since.

Razor, Gotta agree. No question that Direct TV has always been better for sports programming. Can't believe we go back 25 years to the analog satellites that we had to move around for a minute or two to find all the games. That was kinda fun.

What I miss is getting the main backhaul feeds that would have no commercials and you would continue to listen to the announcers when they were off the air. Also you could pick up some pre-game pageantry, almost like being there.

Never forget one time finding the feed for the Liberty Bowl and I believe it was Charlie Jones doing the game. About 30 minutes prior to kickoff, he proclaimed, "I am ready to go, they just dropped of my bottle of vodka"! They may have also been the game that they were recording the introductory, and he said, "Welcome to,....... What the hell is the name of this place?"

LOL I remember one when someone on a backhaul feed said Dan Rostenkowski (the Chicago congressman)would have someone break the other commentators legs if his deragotory comments about Rosty were live. He was teasing-I think.

Time Warner is making a "stand" down here against ESPN w/ ESPN3 not being offered, due to an "outrageous" price. They never carried ESPN360. I haven't heard it all, but it even sounded like there was some risk of the ESPN networks going away. When I heard that, I said to myself, it'll be bye-bye Time Warner, but then I thought I'll take it on the chin if it happens. ESPN could stand to be taken down a peg or two!

They are all greedy but, it is capitalism at it's best. Charge whatever the traffic will bear!

Which I'm fine with. It's all about finding that equilibrium. They aren't under any obligation to provide the service to us, just like we aren't under any obligation to purchase their product. I'll deal with Dish Network for awhile, but if they just ditch Fox Sports, I'm switching to DirecTV. That's how the process works.
