You pick the ball off in the endzone, you stay in the endzone. It's a touchback, not a safety!

Here I am watching Arkansas State / Louisville (because Bilal Powell is on my fantasy roster ), and Froman just tossed a pick in the endzone. The Arkansas State DB runs out of the endzone and dives forward.....TO THE TWO YARD LINE! Nice play, genius. If I'm a coach or the other players on the roster, I'm not patting him on the head like they were doing, I'm yelling in his helmet for making such a mental error.

Bump. I just really want to hear if you guys have seen this all season or not.

I don't recall having seen it yet. But you still see it quite often, cracks me up!

I don't know if they are thinking TB/Safety or they get excited or flat stupid????

Most DB's aren't the brightest guys on the field (and I was a safety), but they are a pretty confident bunch. They think they can take it to the house everytime they touch the ball.

Happened in the Ark vs Bama game. Ark intercepted McElroy in the endzone and the DB ran out. Luckily he made it out to about the 10 yard line. All I was thinking was why did he not just take a knee and give Ark the ball on the 20.

Yep, that was one of the instances I was thinking of. I think it happened in one of the season openers as well. I'm sure there are more examples, or else it wouldn't seem so prominent.

I think their first instinct is to return it - then it's too late. Have seen several of these occasions where the DB runs two yards, slows at the goal line to consider the mistake but isn't sure if he can down it where he's at, so he takes off.

Too much to think about...with all that adrenaline pumping.

DB's get an INT and start running back...it takes a moment to process..."Hey, I am in the end zone..I down it and we get it on the 20".

Just saw Greg Reid for FSU intercept and start tp take it out...luckily the other DB got in front of him and dang near tackled him to get him to take a knee.

I think any defensive play that gets a pick, the first thought is to take it to the house. In the excitement it is hard remember where you are on the field.
