Just watched ESPN mock bcs show...they have Boise 1, Oregon 2, and TCU 3. For what it's Ohio State came in at 5 and Bama at 10. Things will work themselves out. As the season goes on the computers will like Boise and TCU less because of SOS and they will likely get leaped by a few teams.

Wow. ESPN is such a joke.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I agree. Did you watch the show? I did like Mark May's comments...exactly how I feel.

No, I got sick this afternoon, and just woke up about an hour ago.

I was looking at some of the computer components. Check Oregon out:

Colley: Oregon's SOS rank is 112th
Massey: Oregon's SOS rank is 29th
Sagarin: Oregon's SOS rank is 39th

Just curious as to why Colley's is so far off?

I would say Colley's is so far off because 2 possible reasons.
1) There is an error in an input or algorithm.
2) He is an idiot.

Yeah, things could work themselves out. Right.

But what happens if VT and Oregon State win out and both start climbing in the BCS and Nevada only loses one game? Will we still predict the computers will like Boise and TCU less? If Oregon State beats Oregon (any bets?) do you think they could penetrate the Top 10? What about VT? If they win out the season what happens to SOS?

My point is mid-way through the season and all hell has broke loose and nobody knows for sure cuz this is all so unpredictable, just the way football is supposed to be...

Colley has Oregon as #10 in ranking...I didn't look up SOS.

The ratings are all over...FSU goes from #2 to #39, for example. There is more consistancy at the top...Boise goes from #1 to #4. If you look at the comparison of polls (see link), you'll see that LSU is #1 about as much as Boise is. I think that it depends on how you treat the schedule (SOS).

It will be interseting to see how things play out. I still think the James Madison situation hurts. They mentioned on the show last night that each week when Boise and TCU are playing teams like Wyoming, Idaho, etc and teams like Bama are playing Ark, South Car, Auburn, LSU, etc that the computers will penalize Boise and TCU. That's what I meant by things will work themselves out.

The computers will only matter if the points are very close (within hundredths) on the human polls....2/3 of the vote.

Ditto. Which is why it bothers me when people complain about the computers...they have nothing to do with it.

It's all part of the ESPN plan to create strife and question the system so that they get a playoff, thereby make more money of broadcasting. 8)

It will really bother me that Boise and TCU may end the year ranked in the top 2 in the BCS standings without the resume to be there. They face very little adversity in a season. Look at just the SEC West alone....Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas....and Miss State has enough talent to upset any of those teams. It is brutal to not only win your conference in the SEC but to just win the SEC West is brutal. What happens if Bama, Auburn, LSU, Or Ark ends the season 11-1 and win the SEC championship game and is 12-1. Will that team bypass undefeated Boise and TCU in the BCS standings...they should.

If Boise plays for it....it might set a new precedent for low accomplishment in terms of the number quality wins by a BCS Champion.

No champ has had less than four wins over teams who finish the season ranked (AP/Coaches).

But Oregon State and VT might be ranked at the end of the year...add Nevada..and that will give you three.
