Talking Heads - The Crap - and the Leaks about #1!

I am furious and this has been building all week long!

My mother passed away last night and maybe that strips away my inhibitions....

But it is so cruel for those who choose to leak the news that BSU will be number #1 in the First BCS ranking of the seaons only to take it away in the next sentence that the rest of the season erases it because of the SOS -- the PNP of the year.

Forward looking chumps!

We all know that BSU worked hard to get to this point so give them their due...Nobody ever expected that to happen, right? Not one person here back in August would have projected (except CFP's computer, of course) that BSU would emerge as the number #1 team on the rankings for the first poll...

I think it is sick... The lord giveth and the lord taketh away...

But ESPN jollies in the fact that they think they know -- even before this week's games are played! That is why I hate this system. Take each week as it comes...

The system stinks...

I agree with Donovan -- Don't know but doubt if BSU is really the best football team in the country -- but certainly, in my book, if they get rated there then give them their due and not try to discount it in the next breath...

Now my rant is over... I will lay down for awhile, grieve my mother and pray that some sanity will emerge from all of this...

Sorry

Sorry to hear about your Mom.

Burying our parents is one of the passages that we make as we age. But she will always be with you.

Silverfox, you have all of our sympathies. When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. A silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. Little by little, you remember not just that she died, but that she lived, and gave you life and memories and lessons you will help pass on for generations to come. God bless you and your family.

My sympathies as well.

Theres a reason the AP poll is no longer used. I wouldn't worry about those heads that talk to hear themselves speak.

I too would like to forward my condolences. The hardest loss a person can ever go through!

My aunt just passed away last Friday. I still think daily on her, though it has been more than 20 years since I saw her several times weekly. And as I dig through my box of memories, I recall how much better my childhood was because of her, her love, her efforts, her stories, her gifts, her time, and her fun (she was very witty and fun)....I still see her setting in her chair laughing. I can remember hugging her and what her perfume smelled like...(just recalled, it was Wind Song.) She loved to fish and she loved going to the High School football games though she never had a kid play football or cheer. In my mind she is still with me and I hope to see her again one day. For me it is hope and faith that gets me through. And I continually have some words from Paul that get me through, that I hope carry merit for anyone, regardless of views...

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,
so that things which are seen are not made of things which do appear.

To me this says our faith is built upon our hope. Through hope we can step across the many things the human mind can't comprehend. Through faith we can reach our hearts into places our feet can't tread. With faith we can then let go of what we can not defeat and always keep victory in hand. And if we can keep victory tightly bound in one hand then we have one hand free to never let go of love. And if we then always have love in one hand and victory in the other then our feet can never truly walk on a path without hope and faith...the foot falls that first allowed us to not walk about empty handed. And if our hands never be empty but holding a great something, don't we really hold all the everything we ever can.
