In 2003, Auburn finished the season 8-5, and many said they were on a down hill slide.

At the start of the 2004 season, the polls reflected that same assumption, by not preranking the Tigers.

By the end of the year, the media tried their best to correct their mistake, jumping Auburn in leaps over teams who had been in the rankings all season, some teams who were undefeated at the time, in order to push them into position, if either Oklahoma or usc were to have lost a game...

That year, Auburn finish 13-0, with a win over Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

Last year, Auburn finished 8-5, though few gave them much credit for it.

They are currently 6-0, half way through their schedule, and there weren't a lot of bandwagoners promoting the Tig`s as they started their 2010 campaign.

Could the lack of attention be playing into Aubies' hands?

Now, I'm not assuming anything myself... though, one can easily see the parallel here.

Auburn wasn't taken that seriously to begin the season, yet, they have played well, and win.

They are balanced, and undefeated. That is what you want in your team.

Just have a look at Michigan St.

They are also presently unbeaten, because of their unselfish balanced team co-operation.

That is how Auburn has been playing this year... Auburn still has to run into Alabama, LSU, not to mention ( eventhough I am ) Arkansas, who they are up against today.

If the Tigers beat the Hogs... what if?

Aubrun is on a path of destiny...but destiny didn't know what an Arkansas was.

Then again... Hogs on a rotisserie & destiny have a certain flare to it, don't they?

After today...I'm not so sure that Ga can't beat them.

Georgia is looking better. They still have to pick one off between Georgia Tech, Florida, and Auburn in order to qualify for a bowl game this year. I think they'll do it, Georgia Tech is looking pretty average and not like the ACC champs they were last season.

I don't know, that's a VERY tall order. But I'm so happy at the apparent turn around that I feel as giddy as school girl.

I don't know what turned it around...but somebody lit a fire under that defense.

I'm wasn't certain if 2010 Auburn is like 2004 Auburn, or if they are more like Purdue from the middle of the last decade, when it seemed as if just about every season they would start 5-0, but finish 7-5. Hard to see Auburn as worse than 10-2 now. They seem pretty solid, and passed a big test. Of course, the bigger test is next week.

I'm really interested to see what goes on with that game. I'll be in Newfoundland, so I won't be able to watch much.

Yeah. That, Oklahoma vs. Missouri, and for the sake of tradition, Notre Dame/Navy.

TCU/Air Force could be interesting, but after today, I expect that will be a romp.

I didn't think there was any justification for Air Force being ranked. I think they've had one quality win against Navy. The sole reason the team jumped into the public perception was because they beat up on BYU by two scores, but we all realize how mediocre they are now.

For me it was more because they hung on close with an Oklahoma team that had just mercilessly beaten the ever living snot out of Florida State.
