The Longhorns are winding the clock now and real close to knocking off Nebraska.

Texas couldn't let them leave the Big 12 without one last whooping. Nebraska got hooked today.

I was talking to my Nephew yesterday morning about the game. He was calling from his cell phone inside his tractor as they were harvesting corn. He thought the Huskers would not have any trouble with the Longhorns. I reminded him that they were still Texas and had plenty of athletes.

I remember watching a Texas high school football game and could not believe all the 5 star recruits that Texas had already landed. They get the cream of the crop every year and should and do dominate their conference.

I sure had mixed feelings about this game.

That was definitely a lot of fun to watch! I loved seeing GG run with some much determination. He has plenty of receivers to throw to, but just hasn't seem to have much chemistry with them. They don't have that mental connection that so many QB - WRs have. I think they'll continue to get better as their chemistry grows.

Texas pays better also. Cadillac Escalades for the best players (Cedric Benson from a couple of years ago). Huskers get John Deere lawn mowers.

Poor Nebraska spent the whole summer stewing over that 1 second, so much so that they are ready to bolt the conference. They printed up shirts and posters waiting for this game to get their revenge and boom, they get drilled and their star qb who was a Heisman candidate lost the magic as well. They still may be able to win the Big 12 championship but this loss really hurts deep in their hearts.

I don't think the game last year with Texas had anything to do with the Huskers going to the Big 10. I think money was part of the answer and not wanting to be vulnerable, if Texas decided to bolt to the Pac 10.

Nebraska left because the Big 12 destroyed their traditions and decided to back Texas and Oklahoma over the Huskers. They are going to try and create new traditions and rivalries in the B-10. Of course it is the same B-10 that stuck it to Ohio State, so we will see how that goes.

I have a lot of family that live in Nebraska and have been Husker fans for 30 or more years and they never said anything about their traditions being destroyed by the Big 12, as a reason at all. They told me it was a fear of Texas going to Pac 10 and leaving them high and dry and also a much better money situation. Part of that money situation is an improved TV coverage for them.

They were lost in the B-12. The B-10 doesn't hold up certain teams over others. Money is split evenly and the B-10 network goes out of its way to prop up all the teams. While "destroying their traditions" maybe wasn't a given reason, it was what happened. I only know two cornhusker fans personally, but they are both happy that the huskers are in the B-10. They felt Nebraska has got the shaft from the B-12.

I am not a fan of either. But I know I was schedule checking for the bid Nebraska-OU game...yeah, ok!

I think if Nebraska hadn't had the Callahan years, the Big 12 would still be together. Nebraska and Colorado were supposed to do what Texas and OU did in the south. Having teams like Kansas & Mizzou dominating the North hurt rating terribly. You can find a Husker Fan bar in any major city. You cannot say the same about the rest of the teams.

Texas beating them 9 out of 10 times didn't help their desire to stay.

Maybe I didn't watch enough when I was younger (nationally at least) but I don't recall Colorado ever having more than 2 classes that did much of anything??? If that is so, that would seem to be a lot of expectation to pin on them. I have been all over, and if Ihave to be out of the Big East market (only because of WVU) being the Big 12 market has been nice, both trips. The Big 12 and the ACC have displayed more diversity than the other conferences. You have to take the other 4 to get the kind of diversity in football they have shown...and they never seemed to lack for ranked teams. Nebraska's squandering years along with A&M kept the conference from being all it could have been. (If they had performed along with Mizz, Kansas, Texas Tech, and even Ok St. having their stand out seasons...they could have been considered the best conference in the country 4 or 5 years, and IMO...clearly. (But sometimes the absence of one power behooves the rise (and perceived rise) of another.) Since Nebraska's departure from the conference didn't make for the loss of the Nebraska-OU game...no big loss!

Actually, the Nebraska bail is only tearing away from tradition unto themselves... their rivalries with Missouri & Colorado.

It'll be interesting to see which way the out of conference scheduling goes.

Though, the Colorado game might be gone forever.
