Once again FSU loses on the last play of the game...wide right.

NC kicked off to FSU with 55 seconds left on the clock. FSU got it down to FG range, centered the ball on a QB kneel down and time out, and kicked with 7 seconds left to win the game. Inexplicably, one of the most reliable of placekickers misses wide right.

North Carolina is pretty good now that they have their two starting safeties and CBs back from suspension (all NFL draft potential). I can see why they gave LSU problems.

But, this was a game FSU should have won. Like SEC guys, we were upset at the refs. Major drive stalling penalties called (holding) against FSU while FSU guys were being held all night without a call. A major call that changed the game was a NC guy with the ball tip toeing down the side line trying to make the first down. An FSU defender hit him right after his toes went over the line but he was still running down the field. Fifteen yards and the drive resulted in a score. Hey! How are you going to tell if a guy's foot touched the line when you are closing from 15 feet away and the guy is still trying to make the first down?

The officiating is just getting worse! The sideline hits and personal fouls can be cleaned up a good bit. They need to paint a black line 18 inches out of bounds. If the guy is hit in the black zone throw the flag...if not...call it football and line it back up!

I agree. These calls are making it impossible for defensive players to do their job. It is getting ridiculous. I think that if we can prevent unnecessary injury then we should do it, but football is still a hard contact sport and there is a big difference between trying to prevent unnecessary injury and trying to prevent injury. You can't prevent injury unless you ban tackling and that isn't a game I care about seeing.

Also why put all the onus on the defenses. Why not ban receivers from going over the middle. More receivers have been hurt going over the middle than about any other situation. Why not ban that? Why not ban running backs from lowing their shoulder readying for contact? There is lots of things offenses do to gain an advantage of the defensive players, but no one addresses that at all --- because it is part of the game. Spearing is illegal and should be, but you can not eliminate all helmet to helmet contact. I have no problem with calling a player who leads with his head, but when the ball carrier lowers his shoulder and there is incidental contact, it should not be called.

I agree Spence. But as long as it doesn't effect viewership...they will continue to tinker. The problem is we don't dislike these things nearly enough to quit watching!

Same thing happened in the Ark game. SC guy trying to get that extra yard and his feet were in bounds when he was hit. The flags came flying out by all officials. It did not affect the outcome of the game however...by that point Ark was up 41-10.

Billybud...must be tough the last two weeks. It's hard to lose on the last play of a game but two weeks in a row is rough.
