http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/ncf/n ... id=5824661Gotta admit, it is a different way of trying things, trying to jam a football field into Wrigley...

This was ridiculous from the beginning. PT Barnum is now scheduling B-10 games.

Well, I can only see weird crap like this somehow adding to the curse of Billy Sianis and his goat...
Heh, one of my FB friends posts:
They're going to play backyard rules - losers walk. Maybe they can also play shirts vs skins, use a full-time QB, play the 2 completions for a first down rule, throw the ball down field for the kickoff, and require the defense to count to 5 mississippi before they can rush (unless they call blitz, but of course they only have 1 blitz per 4 downs)

I don't know about shirts vs skins. I has been warmer than normal in the midwest so far this fall, but it isn't skin whether.

Another reason why I don't care for the Big Ten...a good idea gone very stupid.

It wasn't a good idea. Just an over zealous marketing ploy.

Well the game is going to be on ESPNU, so even with all of the hype, nobody is going to see it. I think it's the right call, but how they didn't work out the logistics beforehand is beyond me. Maybe they could have played it at Soldier Field or something instead.

Since when did the NCAA become concerned about player safety.......and...when they act like they are, something stupid always comes into play. This has the potential to being the longest game time wise ever. Why not just not play the game and run the computers, determine the winner and everyone will be safe. So the best seats in the house will not be the fifty yard line...but the 25? And don't you cut the seating capacity in half. And what if you are a hot dog vendor on the vacant end. Why not just remark the field in ten yard increments that are really only nine yards? And.......and...and......when is it time to just bail from watching College Football and go back to the high schools....I gave up on the NFL...college could be next.

I guess there won't be any 80 yard drives, record run backs, etc.
To play on a half sized field, there needs to be an equipment modification. Play with a nerf ball.

On interceptions, kickoffs, or fumble returns, they will play down at that endzone. Of course, if the defense doesn't finish in the endzone, they have to reverse the yard spot and flip the offense

Again, just ridiculous. They are playing a game I played in my back yard- no passes allowed thrown around the BBQ pit

I forgot about all of that....and..if you ran into your mother's flower beds...well....game over....Now Mothers...there was an enforcer that made sense. Maybe mother's should be in charge of college football..."quit wimping and get back outside and play." "You aren't hurt...and don't come into this house again with muddy feet." And..you step on my flowers and I will show you a penalty that has yet to be written."

Bah. Real men played "Kill the carrier."
Real ten-year-old men, that is...
