This must have been the program that ESPN said was going to be in trouble.

It is not these recruiting services are a big secret. Every high school athlete in the country is approached by one of them. Parents pay money for these guys to send out the "I am interested letters, and schools pay for the ones that are good."
Athlete Scholarship Corporation is a big one. Check it out. Look at the registered schools. My point is...these are no secret.

It is "what you pay for" that is suspect. Paying a service for video tapes is one thing...paying for the delivery of an athlete is another. The whole third party business is hard to regulate.
Some unscrupulous services are taking money to deliver an athlete....$25,000 paid to a service sounds a bit much. I think that there is more going on here than just a scouting service. Most of these services flood youtube with their videos where any coach can watch them...free.

Paying for delivery of and athlete is being an agent. It's time to clean it all up.

Oregon is finding out what every school finds out once they hit that championship game - the lights get brighter and the number of people that are turning over the rocks gets larger and larger. They probably aren't doing anything lots of other aren't doing they are just this years whipping boy.

It is just like AAU basketball. It should be eliminated, what started as a good idea has turned a system filled with corruption.

...or "select" baseball teams for summer ball. What happened to the days when baseball ended for kids the afternoon of labor day. Now they end their seasons before school is out so they can have these "pay big bucks" select play and a promise of pro scouts looking at your kid.
